Scandinavian players get exclusive tournament at Everest Poker
By Sarah Polson
Starting Jan. 2, Scandinavian players in Norway, Sweden and Denmark are invited to take part in an exclusive series of five online tournaments at Everest Poker. The events will send 10 players from each country to a final tournament in Barcelona, Spain.
"This event takes a historic rivalry between three countries that are often cited as having the best poker players in the world, and creates a unique tournament structure to determine who is the 'best of the best' from these countries, both as a team and individually," said Jonathan May, the online poker site's property manager.
Called the Nordic Summit, May said the event is sure to bring out some great players in a first-of-its-kind poker event.
The series starts Jan. 2 and has five $22+$2 buy-in tournaments. Points are given for the top 50 places in each of the finale tournaments, with the top eight point earners from each country getting a seat at the final event in Barcelona Feb. 24-25.
Two more players from each country will also be given spots in Barcelona through special promotions.
"This is just the sort of event that sets us apart from other poker rooms," May said. "Not only are we paying for travel expenses for the winners, we're treating them to drinks and tickets to an FC Barcelona football match."
