Ilari “Ilari_FIN” Sahamies has officially passed Rafi Amit as the biggest winner on PokerStars this year thanks to a $400k+ victory last night.

The aggressive Finn went all-out last night playing 836 hands, the majority of which were in the downright scary $200/$400 6-Max games with GARFIELD25, Vaga_Lion, Jens “Jeans89” Kyllonen and 1-ronnyr3.

It’s rare the $200/$400 games are running on PokerStars and Sahamies took advantage by crushing his opponents.

Sahamies won $535,373 on one table alone before finally finishing the night with a total of $426k.

It was one of the single-best sessions in Sahamies career and was enough to catapult him into first place on this year’s online poker leaderboard with just over $2.1 million in profit.

Rafi Amit, who has been idle for most of the month, now has to settle for second place on PokerStars with $1.8 million.

Sahamies has arguably been the most compelling story in online poker this year as he quit Full Tilt Poker after a terrible 2010, started playing all his hands on PokerStars, dropped nearly $1 million by summer and then went on the mother of all heaters to become the biggest winner on the site.

Meanwhile Peter “GARFIELD25” Chan made the mistake of getting in the way of the rampaging Sahamies and ended up losing an astonishing $536k in 672 hands on PokerStars.

It’s been a swingy week for Chan who won $400k earlier in the week but completely obliterated that score last night and is suddenly down nearly $500k playing online poker in 2011.

Chan had some very highly-regarded company on the losing side, however, as PepperoniF (-$184k), Vaga_Lion (-$170k), 1II|1II|1iI| (-$121k) and Benny “toweliestar” Spindler (-$88k) all dropped significant amounts of cash in the games last night.

Sahamies was the biggest winner last night but the relatively unknown Fake Love888 gave him a serious run for his money with $382k in winnings.

Rounding out the top five biggest winners were doncarignano (+$247k), Jeans89 (+$64k) and 1-ronnyr3 (+$48k).
