Royal event to raise money for charity at 888.com
By Sarah Polson
Poker room operator 888.com has invited Britain's blue bloods to play a hand of poker for charity in honor of the new James Bond movie.
The site is hoping to get Prince William, Prince Harry, Princess Beatrice, and Peter and Zara Phillips, to agree to log in and play for a £1 million pot for the charity of their choice.
They're participation would help carry on the royal family's tradition of working for good causes. The winner will receive £600,000 for their charity, with the rest getting £100,000 each.
888.com, which owns and operates Pacific Poker, is calling it a Casino Royal event to celebrate the launch of the new James Bond movie "Casino Royale."
There's no confirmation yet whether the royals have agreed to participate, but Matt Robinson, 888.com head of offline marketing, said the new Bond film made it seem only logical to stage a royal poker event in the name of charity.
