Roberto Luongo Confirmed to Play $10,000 WSOP Main Event

Roberto Luongo will return for his second WSOP Main Event.

Last year Vancouver Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo cashed in the World Series of Poker Main Event and he recently told he can't wait to give it another shot this July.

Luongo finished 634th out of 6,598 players in 2012, earning $19,227 and his first official live tournament cash.

His brother Fabio did him one better and made it all the way to 418th before busting for $28,530. has discovered that Roberto plans to return to Las Vegas for the 2013 WSOP Main Event starting July 6.

“I’m very excited to be participating again in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas on behalf of,” Luongo told

“I’m competitive so I'm always hoping to improve on last year’s performance and win.”

50 Qualifiers to Join Luongo from PlayNow

Luongo started endorsing British Columbia Lottery Corporation’s online poker room in September of 2011 and has since become the main face of the government-run Internet card room., with their Network Partners in Manitoba and Quebec, plan to send close to 50 online qualifiers to the WSOP Main Event, and they'll all have a chance to meet and interact with Luongo. is the only gambling website approved to qualify players for the World Series of Poker and World Series of Poker Circuit in Canada.
