Red Dwan: Gus Hansen mangles durrrr

Tom Dwan finally appeared to be leveling out of his terrible 2009, but last night proved to be another catastrophe for the New Jersey-born poker prodigy.

The culprit was none other than one of Dwan's favorite marks: the poker-playing Danish baller known as Gus Hansen. The top 10 biggest pots as collected by MarketPulse yesterday were dominated by Hansen, who won an incredible eight out of nine giant pots played.

Every pot was worth over $100,000, and the top pot was worth $260,000. The majority of the action took place at Hansen Hangout, a $500/$1,000 table on Full Tilt Poker. Every hand played was in Pot-Limit Omaha, not one of Dwan's specialties.

In the biggest hand of the day Dwan was dealt Q♠ 4♠ J♥ 8♥ while the Great Dane looked down to find A♦ 6♦ K♠ 9♦. Hansen raised the button and Dwan called.

The flop came A♥ 8♠ 7♥ and Dwan checked but Hansen bet $4,000. Dwan called and the turn peeled off the 5♠.

Dwan once again checked but that's when the fireworks began. Hansen bet $12,000, Dwan raised to $50,000, Hansen reraised to $164,000 and Dwan called for the last of his $123,398 stack.

Dwan had an incredible number of outs but missed all of them as the river came A♣. Hansen happily raked a $260,796 pot back into his chip stack.

Although Dwan is still leading the Hold'em Money Makers list, it's anybody's guess as to when he will pull out of the PLO downswing he's been in for the majority of 2009. If things continue this way he may have to convince a few more people to play him in No-Limit Hold'em.
