Record prize pool expected for Asian Poker Classic
By Sarah Polson
The Asian Poker Classic, which is already set to be one of the biggest events in Asia, is becoming even bigger with the addition of a minimum $250,000 to the event's prize pool. That creates a possibility of more than $1 million for India's first pro poker tournament.
The Asian Poker Classic is scheduled for March 1-5 at the Intercontinental Grand Resort in Goa, India. Participants will find five-star accommodations over looking the sea and the golf course during their stay.
"The Asian Poker Classic is not just one of the biggest events scheduled for India in 2007 - it's one of the biggest poker events anywhere in the world," said Tournament Director Thomas Kremser. "With Goa as a fantastic location, it will be the most exciting new poker tournament of the year."
The tournament is expected to bring out some of the world's top pros and celebrities to play and enjoy the venue.
"We expect there will be between 150 and 200 players, and with a $250,000 add-in, the equity in this tournament is absolutely astounding," said Minaxshi Shah, Asian Poker Classic director of events.
