Qualify online for APT event at PartyPoker
By Sarah Polson
The 2008 Asian Poker Tour will have its first stop in Manila, Philippines, and PartyPoker is offering its players a chance to win seats in the event.
An estimated 400 players are expected to take part in the APT event, which is guaranteeing a $1 million prize pool. At least 11 of the players attending will have won a package to the event from PartyPoker.
The prize packages available at the poker site are worth $6,000 and include the $2,500 buy-in for the APT main event as well as $2,500 in spending money and seven nights in the Dusit Thani Manila Hotel.
"Forget the rumble in the jungle," said a PartyPoker spokesman. "With the $1 million prize pool guaranteed, there is no reason not to qualify online for the thriller in Manila."
PartyPoker will host twice weekly $300+$20 satellites to the APT Manila. A prize package will be awarded for every 20 players in the satellite.
The poker site is also offering a daily $35 qualifier for the bi-weekly satellites. One seat for the weekly satellites will be awarded for every 10 players who enter the qualifier.
There are also two different options for players to get into the daily qualifier for even less. The first option is the daily $4 sub-qualifiers. For every 10 players in the sub-qualifier, a seat is awarded in the next $35 qualifier.
The second option is daily $1 speed rebuy sub-qualifier. For every $35 in the prize pool an entry is awarded into the next daily qualifier.
The APT in Manila is planned to take place may 27 through June 1. Along with the main event it will include a number $300 freezeout tournaments and cash games. The event will also host the first-ever 13 Card Poker Tournament.
