Pro-Am Poker Equalizer hits the airwaves this weekend

By Erin Warner

Here's another reason to justify a Saturday afternoon on the couch: The season's first episode of the Pro-Am Poker Equalizer airs Jan. 6 at 4 p.m. on ESPN.

The eight-part show features a mix of poker pros and celebrities, each competing for $500,000.

Four professionals including Phil Ivey, John Juanda, Chris "Jesus" Ferguson and Howard Lederer will fill each table, complimented by two celebrity players. Stars such as Penn Jillette, Shannon Elizabeth, Don Cheadle, Jose Canseco will also be featured.

The series was filmed at the South Coast Casino in Las Vegas, and follows a six-handed sit-and-go tournament style. The winner of the table advances to the next round for a chance to win the big cash.

The winner of the final table will be revealed in the last episode, airing Feb. 18 at 5 p.m.
