Full Review

Prime Poker uses the Ongame platform, with all the benefits of their shared player base. The Prime Poker software has a nice design and functionality and is offered as a download version that is only available for PC. For Mac and Linux users however, the no-download Java version works just fine. There are also plans for mobile poker.

Prime Poker is a popular poker room, and for being a relative newcomer they are attracting players fast. Prime Poker offers many special promotions such as money-added tournaments, freerolls and qualifiers to big poker events, plus great statistical analysis of played hands and live statistics when all-in.

Action can be found at Prime Poker at almost any limit and at most times of the day. It is however primarily a European poker room, so for the biggest games European peak hours is the time to play. The lower and micro-limits are well populated at any time of the day though.

The games offered at Prime Poker are Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven-Card Stud, Seven-Card Stud Hi-Lo and Five-Card Draw. The games vary between No-Limit, Pot-Limit and Fixed-Limit, with full, shorthanded and heads-up tables all available.

Real-money player statistics as of May 2012 show 9000 ring-game players at peak hours and 45000 tournament players at peak hours.

Overall, Pokerlistings finds that Prime Poker offers great action, good game diversity and software that plays very well. The software is updated frequently to ensure safety and stability with some downtime as a result.

Tournaments and Freerolls

Prime Poker hosts many tournaments with buy-ins as small as a couple of dollars up to a couple hundred dollars. The tournaments are well-populated and fast, with skillful players. Competition at any level is decent, and the major satellites and tournaments are downright hard at the later stages.

Prime Poker runs small- and medium-sized guaranteed tournaments daily. The weekly $20,000 and $30,000 tournaments draw a large number of players. The poker room also runs many qualifiers to big live and online poker events like the World Series of Poker. The biggest guaranteed tournaments are the $30,000 and $75,000 events that run weekly.

Software and Graphics

The Prime Poker software is a customized version of the Ongame software and runs on the Ongame network. The latest version of Prime Poker's software supports play at four tables simultaneously. Multi-table play usually runs smoothly and problem free as long as your computer can keep up.

Prime Poker is decently suited for multi-table play with clutter-free and easy-to-use software. However, the tables are fixed size (except for the option of playing in full screen) and there is no mini view or other special multi-table function.

The graphics of the Prime Poker software are clean and crisp. Most users seem to appreciate them, but there are reported problems with the software from time to time. The table functions are easy to learn and well-oriented, and there are plenty of options to configure the behavior of the software.

The avatars available are good looking and do not disturb the game play in any way, and the four-color decks are very nicely designed. The felt is a classic deep green that works well and looks very good. One negative to note is that the software is a little resource intensive and tends to affect the performance of other poker clients that may be running.

Soft Competition

From our experience there are quite a few soft games available at Prime Poker and the Ongame network, mainly in the lower-limit cash games and smaller buy-in tournaments. You can't look at the top-stakes games for soft competition, where Prime Poker is less of a fish pond. Still, you can at times find $5/$10 No-Limit Hold'em tables with a viewed-flop percentage of 35-40%. Overall, many Hold'em games have a viewed-flop percentage in the 40s and 50s.
