PPT Qualifying requirements

Only players who have met the qualifications recommended by the Player-nominated PPT Advisory Committee and have been invited to play on the PPT are eligible to play in PPT tournaments. In future years, Players will qualify for the PPT based on the "Future Rules" outlined below.

Please note the following changes and additions to the PPT Qualification Information:

1. Clarifications of the PPT Qualification Announcement

a. When Qualifiers can begin playing: As soon as you meet one of the categories that automatically qualifies you for the PPT - you can begin to play in the PPT. (A soon as a player wins a WPT event, that player can play in the next PPT event.)

b. This Season, what constitutes playing in 50% of WPT events: A player will be deemed to have played in 50% of the WPT Season Three events for the purpose of retaining his/her PPT card if either (1) the player plays in 50% of the tournaments from Foxwoods to the end of the season OR (2) if the player plays in 50% of all tournaments for Season Three (began July 17, 2004).

2. You too can play in the PPT: Remember, a lot of people are going to fall off the first season list (for not playing in 2 out of 5 PPT events or if they don't play in 50% of WPT events). That means that many of next season's PPT qualifiers will come from the WPT Season Three money list. So, if you believe you belong in the professional league but have not yet made it in, there will be many opportunities.

DEFINITIONS:

  • Season = Fall to Spring (From the first day of the first PPT event of a season to the first day of the first PPT event of the following season)
  • Final Table = Last Six Players
  • Multiple Qualifications in a single season - In a single season, players can only bank the longest period they qualify for. (e.g., A PPT player with a one year card who makes it to a PPT Final Table (therefore earning an additional year) and who places sixth in the WPT Championship (earning two years) will only bank two years from that season.)
  • Limitations on Banking seasons - No player can bank more than three PPT seasons. (e.g., A PPT player who wins two PPT events in a season will still only have three years banked).
  • When Membership Begins - As soon as someone qualifies based on the PPT automatic criteria, that player may begin playing PPT events. For example, a one-year card obtained in any part of a season, will include the rest of that season (the stub year) plus the next season.
