PPA asks its people to join in letter campaign

By: Sarah Polson

The Poker Players Alliance (PPA) recently issued a call urging its members to participate in a letter writing campaign to their state Senators to make players' voices heard regarding legislation that could ban online poker playing.

PPA president Michael Bolcerek says that while the PPA continues to grow and now exceeds 100,000 members, the group must continue to make their voices even louder to prevent the Senate from passing a bill similar to H.R. 4411, the Internet Gambling Prohibition and Enforcement Act, which would ban online gambling, including online poker.

Joining the letter campaign is as easy as visiting the PPA Web site, where people can fill out an online form and have the PPA automatically send a letter on their behalf to the appropriate representatives.

While representatives are home for their month-long break, PPA points out that players could also go to town hall meetings, public forums, and debates where there representatives will be talking about issues, and tell them in person that they oppose legislation that would limit their ability to play poker on the Internet.
