Police bust poker game in Tennessee
It didn't take long for police in La Vergne, Tenn. to get wind of a supposedly illegal gambling establishment. Acting on an anonymous tip Wednesday they swooped in on the three-week old operation, seizing cash and arresting 22 people on gambling and other charges.
A police official indicated to the press the operation had only been up-and-running for about three weeks, with games starting at 8:15 p.m. and a $200 entry fee to play.
When two officers came and knocked on the door, the owners of the establishment apparently tried to convince the police they had simply "made a place for their friends to get together and play poker."
The police weren't buying it, however, and went on to seize personal property, gaming tables, a poker machine and over $15,000 in cash.
Charges were laid against 22 people, with three being charged with gambling and aggravated gambling.
An officer also called it, "the largest bust by LPD officers on one call in one night."
