Police bust poker club in Indiana

By Sarah Polson

After about a year-long investigation, police raided an illegal poker club in Indianapolis, Ind., Tuesday evening. The raid resulted in three arrests and summons issued for 60 more people.

The three men arrested were Ryan Roe for promoting professional gambling, Donald Kincaid for illegal gambling and carrying a firearm without a license, and Richard Harvy for illegal gambling and a civil contempt warrant.

The people issued summons for illegal gambling were a wide variety of ages and from several counties. One surprise among them was Trooper Kyle Freeman, a seven-year veteran of the Indiana State Police.

The State Police issued a statement saying that Freeman has been put on administrative duties and an internal investigation will be conducted.

The raid also resulted in police seizing about $6,000 in cash as well as poker chips, computers, televisions and other gambling paraphernalia.

According to the police, through their investigation they discovered that gamblers were required to pay a membership fee to be a part of the poker club. On top of that, they had to pay to join games, which ran seven days a week.
