Poland takes a liberal stance on online gambling
According to The Warsaw Voice the Polish government is planning to license online gambling.
Because of the ruling by the European Court of Justice in the Plancia case, representatives for the Polish government recently stated that they will change the laws regulating online gambling.
The Plancia case has been an important milestone when it comes to the liberalization of gambling regulations within the European Union (EU). The case was brought by British bookmakers who had been banned from operating in Italy, and they won in court against the Italian government.
The European Court of Justice ruled that a gambling operator holding a license in a country belonging to EU has the right to provide the same service within the whole Union.
A number of online bookmakers are operating in Poland without any regulations. But Poland is now planning to regulate the online gambling industry and start issuing licenses to gambling and poker operators.
