PokerTek posts $2.3 million loss
By Erin Warner
The company responsible for the concept of eliminating the poker room from casino Hold'em play is reporting a third-quarter net loss of $2.3 million. During the same time last year, the software development company PokerTek Inc. saw losses of $871,000.
PokerTek is blaming salaries and benefits, licensing and regulatory fees, and expenses related to being a public company for the increased losses.
Revenue, however, spiked to $239,000 compared to the $47,000 generated last year.
The company recently landed contracts to provide six casinos with electronic PokerPro Texas Hold'em tables that cut out the necessity of poker rooms and dealers in casinos.
