PokerTek approved in Indiana
By Sarah Polson
PokerTek was issued a temporary supplier license in the state of Indiana. It was also given approval for the PokerPro System for field trial.
With the license and PokerPro approval, the company will be able to set up the PokerPro dealerless poker tables in 11 riverboat casinos in Indiana.
According to PokerTek, the temporary license and product field trial is the result of a year-long process that included extensive investigation and evaluation of both PokerTek and its PokerPro product.
PokerPro is a dealerless, electronic poker table with screens for players to see their cards and to make their bets electronically.
It is designed to provide Texas Hold'em without casinos having to outfit a card room and train dealers. The system also eliminates dealer error.
"We have already had the opportunity to introduce PokerPro to Indiana poker players who've played at our tables in neighboring states," said Chris Halligan, PokerTek CEO. "The reviews we've received in this region have been phenomenal, and we look forward to expanding into this market."
