PokerStars.com takes lead at Life Ball

By Christopher Hunt

One of Europe's most prestigious charity events, the annual Life Ball in Vienna, Austria, is a long-standing and dedicated partner for AIDS relief and research. And PokerStars.com has stepped up the dance floor, becoming a main sponsor and exclusive poker partner for this year's event.

Celebrating its 15th year, the Life Ball is "a colorful celebration of life" that brings people together from all walks of life, including business, art, entertainment, fashion, media and more, in the name of raising money for AIDS research.

And part of the Life Ball festivities this year will be a PokerStars.com charity poker tournament, with selected celebrities and a few lucky online qualifiers playing poker together for a $100,000 prize, courtesy of PokerStars.com, to be donated to the cause.

On top of the $100,000, PokerStars will also donate $1 for each entry in a series of charity freerolls run over the past month and will double the donations from a $5+$10 buy-in Life Ball charity tourney held on May 19.

Winners of two online finals have been determined and will take their seat at the celebrity table May 26 at the Vienna town hall, where the winner will hand over the $100,000 donation to Life Ball in the name of PokerStars.com and receive a sponsored non-cash prize.

The charity freerolls are over, but donations are still being accepted at the site.
