The grand finale of the PokerStars.com Moneymaker Millions begins today as 27 lucky players from around the world belly up to the felt in the Bahamas. They'll be playing for a $2 million prize pool that includes a 2007 Aston Martin DB9.
"I can't wait to shake hands with the winner and see the look in his eyes, as he experiences that incredible joy of winning one of the biggest tournaments in history," said Chris Moneymaker.
Moneymaker, who won the 2003 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event after winning his way into it at PokerStars.com, said the exhilaration of winning such a large tournament is unlike anything else, and it's what PokerStars.com does best.
"Amazing online tournaments coupled with once-in-a-lifetime experiences. You can't get that anywhere else," he said.
The Moneymaker Millions was created in honor of Moneymaker's WSOP victory when he was 27 - hence the final number of qualifiers who were flown to the Bahamas for the final.
More than 830,000 poker players from countries all around the world took part in the Moneymaker Millionaire. The tournament took five months and three rounds to whittle the field down to the remaining 27.
There are 15 Americans, 10 Canadians, one German and one Slovenian player who made the cut and play today for the $1 million first place prize. The action will be covered live on the PokerStars.com blog and will be recorded for broadcast in Canada and Germany.
