PokerStars.com launches Asia Pacific Poker Tour

Are you ready to take the plunge with poker tournaments in Asia, because PokerStars.com is. The poker site announced today it is sponsoring the Asia Pacific Poker Tour with a few locations already scheduled on the tour.

The APPT will hit the Philippines first with a stop in Manila Aug. 24-26. The event there will have a $2,500 buy-in. Then it will be on to Korea the following month with another $2,500 buy-in tournament in Seoul Sept. 28-30.

The buy-in goes up, and will surely attract some notice, when the tour heads to Sydney, Australia, Dec. 13-16. The tournament there will cost $5,000 to get into.

The APPT is expecting to add more dates and venues and is going to televise its tournaments.

The tournaments will be set insome of the world's most lavish casino locations. The Manila event will take place in the Hyatt Hotel, the Seoul tournament will be at the Sheraton Walkerhill, and the Sydney event will be at the Star City Casino.

Along with sponsoring the events, PokerStars.com is also helping get players to them. Starting July 1, the poker site will be running daily qualifying tournaments for $22 that can lead to $5,000 prize packages to the Philippines event.
