PokerStars.com adds Humberto Brenes to its team
Humberto Brenes, also known as the "Godfather of the Costa Rican Players," has joined Team PokerStars.com. He will represent the site at various poker tournaments around the world throughout the next year.
Brenes, a two-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner, joins an ever-growing team of players at PokerStars.com that includes Barry Greenstein, Chris Moneymaker, Greg Raymer, Joe Hachem, Tom McEvoy, Victor Ramdin, Isabelle Mercier, and Wil Wheaton.
"Brenes is the epitome of the competitive spirit and class that is Team PokerStars.com," said Nolan Dalla, PokerStars.com director of communications. "He's a competitor that incites both a tremendous fear and respect from all players."
Most people recognize Brenes for his colorful attire, charisma, and skillful play. Along with his two WSOP bracelets, he has finished first at the 2002 Jack Binion World Poker Open championship, come in second in the 2003 L.A. Invitational, and taken second place at the Bellagio's Five Diamond World Poker classic that same year.
Brenes will make his first public appearance as a Team PokerStars.com member at this year's WSOP where he's already cashed in six events.
