PokerStars ups the ante for EPT London
The European poker scene hasn't been the same since the European Poker Tour was created, bringing in high-stakes poker players from around the world. Now the high-rollers will have even more reasons to play when Season 5 kicks off in London in a few months with even more money up for grabs.
The EPT London is scheduled for Oct. 1-5 with a £5,400 buy-in main event. There are plenty of preliminary events on tap as well starting on Sept. 24, but the high-rollers may make the extra effort to come for the £20,300 £1 million Showdown taking place after the main event.
For the first time in EPT history, PokerStars is also guaranteeing a £1 million prize pool for an event. Plus it is also adding £250,000 to the main event to guarantee a £1 million payout for the winner of that event as well.
The £1 million Showdown will take place Oct. 5-6 just as the main event is wrapping up. The schedule of other events is as follows:
- Sept. 24 at 8 p.m.: £220 No-Limit Hold'em w/rebuys (two-day tournament)
- Sept. 25 at 8 p.m.: £385 No-Limit Hold'em Freezeout (two-day tournament)
