PokerStars to Match Donations to Typhoon Relief

Last week one of the strongest storms in history devastated the Philippines and PokerStars is setting up a relief fund to assist those hit hardest by Typhoon Haiyan.

PokerStars has partnered with global relief charity CARE International to provide essentials like shelter, food and water to people who have lost their homes and livelihood.

The relief effort hinges on poker players, however, as PokerStars will match every $1 they donate towards the cause.

Players can make donations by registering for special dummy tournaments in the PokerStars lobby in the Tourney>All tab. The tournaments are titled “Typhoon Haiyan Relief.”

The tournaments will never actually be played, they are just a way for players to donate. Each player can donate amounts of $1, $2, $5, $10, $50, $100, $200, $500 and $1,000.

Additionally players can just donate whatever amount they choose by making a player transfer to the “Typhoon Fund” account.

Alternatively players can just donate directly on the CARE website on the PokerStars/Helping Hands Appeal page.
