PokerStars offers dedicated Mac client

PokerStars has now fully entered the world of online poker on a Mac. The online poker site announced on Friday that its much-anticipated downloadable Mac poker software has now launched.

"This is a great addition for both PokerStars and the poker playing audience. This will allow Mac users to experience the world's largest online poker site without third-party applications," said Joe Hachem, 2005 World Series of Poker Champion.

"I know a lot of the actors and musicians I coach via PokerStars will appreciate its release - the creative community use Macs before any other computer."

Previously, there was only a beta version available for Mac users while the PokerStars team worked for the past year to deliver the downloadable software that would be compatible with Mac OS 10.4.10 and later versions.

Mac OS X has been improving as a gaming platform since 2005. Rather than try to force a PC application on the Mac, PokerStars built their poker software specifically for the new Mac operating systems. That software is available in more than 15 languages, with more support being added every day.

"The launch of PokerStars for Mac surpasses other web-based and outdated online poker Mac applications and secures PokerStars commitment to enhancing the experience for all players," said the poker site in a press release.

PokerStars said it is devoted to remaining the leader in online poker, offering the best software and security, with a total commitment to customer service and 100% dedication to innovation.

"PokerStars understands what gamers want. Although PCs are still the top gaming platform, the number of online games for Mac has been growing by leaps and bounds," said Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, 2008 PCA Champion.

"The community started asking for an acceptable online poker version for Mac, and PokerStars stepped up to deliver it. They didn't rush into a launch, but developed the best software for the platform, in line with Mac user feedback and advice, to ensure users have a positive experience."
