PokerStars “Lights it Up Blue” in Support of Autism Speaks NJ
The iconic PokerStars red spade is turning blue in recognition of Autism Awareness Month.
PokerStars is partnering with the New Jersey chapter of Autism Speaks for April to support ongoing research and advocacy efforts.
The site, which launched in NJ just last month, began by participating in Light it Up Blue on April 2, which saw a number of landmark buildings in NJ lit up with blue light to raise awareness about autism.
Moneymaker, PokerStars Pros Lend Helping Hand
PokerStars, which raises money for charity though its corporate giving programme called Helping Hands, will continue to work with Autism Speaks for the rest of the month and year to raise awareness for autism.
“Today, autism is a complex and often misunderstood disorder that affects 1 out of 68 children and millions of families, including many of those within the PokerStars family,” said Eric Hollreiser, Vice President of Corporate Communications for Amaya Inc. and PokerStars.
“We are eager to partner with Autism Speaks New Jersey to help raise funds and awareness for this important work.”
The fundraising initiative will culminate with a black tie gala event in Spring of 2017.
The Autism Speaks initiative is particularly meaningful to Team PokerStars Pro Chris Moneymaker.
“My family and I were delighted to learn of PokerStars’ commitment to Autism Speaks New Jersey, which – in turn – will raise funds and awareness for research and advocacy across the country,” said Team PokerStars Pro Chris Moneymaker.
“Our family has been and is currently affected by this disorder, and as a dedicated member of the PokerStars family, I am personally touched by the brand’s decision to support a cause near to my heart.”
