PokerStars announces next WCOOP
By Sarah Polson
PokerStars is bringing back the World Championship of Online Poker for a seventh year, and this time there will be $30 million in guaranteed prize pools up for grabs.
This year the WCOOP will feature 33 events covering games such as Hold'em, Omaha, Stud, Razz, H.O.R.S.E. and 2-7 Draw. There are also a few new events being added this year including $10,300 High-Roller No-Limit Hold'em, Eight-Game Mixed tourney, Four-Max No-Limit Hold'em, Mixed Hold'em, Six-Max Mixed Hold'em and more.
"Prestigious tournaments such as the PokerStars.com World Championship of Online Poker are the ultimate way to improve your game and experience the excitement of big tournament play," said Joe Hachem of Team PokerStars.
While there are hundreds of major live tournaments to play in all over the world, PokerStars noted that nothing compares to the all-online series that is the WCOOP. For millions of players it is the ultimate online poker championship.
PokerStars claims this year's WCOOP will be the biggest online poker tournament series in the world, attracting players from across the globe to collect the millions in cash prizes as well as a WCOOP gold bracelet for winners.
Each WCOOP event will have a guaranteed prize pool, and many of them will have $2 million or more in guaranteed cash.
The WCOOP will run Sept. 5-22, starting with a $215 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em tournament. The series' big event will be the $10 million guaranteed No-Limit Hold'em main event taking place Sept. 21-22.
