Daily 3-Bet: Little Helps, WSOP Deals, Mercier Begins

The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is a crowded clown car ride through the late afternoon poker news circus.

Any suggestions for a future 3-Bet, feel free to drop a note in the comments.

Today in the 3-Bet we find Jonathan Little helping grinders of all bankroll levels, a backdoor in to a summer at the World Series of Poker and the origin of Jason Mercier is traced to a great call.

1) Jonathan Little Offers Free Weekly Poker Hand Analysis

We love the new WeeklyPokerHand series/website started up by former WPT Player of the Year and sit-and-go icon Jonathan Little.

Simple idea is every week Little posts a strategy breakdown video of an interesting or relevant hand.

Stakes can range from a $10k buy-in tournament at the Bellagio to a $10 online tournament but the thought processes are applicable to every level of poker.

Even better, if his opponent showed his cards Little also breaks the hand down from his opponent's point of view for the full 360 perspective.

Check out the first part from a $10 online tournament below; second part and more vids here.

2) Learn to Deal for the 2012 World Series of Poker

As seasoned veterans of the annual summer WSOP circus we can tell you it's truly an experience a poker fan has to have in person at least once in their lives.

Nothing can quite replicate the energy of seven weeks of wall-to-wall poker culminating in the most amazing tournament in the world, the WSOP Main Event.

If your buy-in level is below the $1k minimum for the series though, there is a backdoor to getting a seat at the tables and experiencing it from the felt: dealing.

The WSOP Dealer Academy is offering up at least one more session for aspiring dealers to get trained and work the 2012 WSOP from May 27-July 16.

The next basic Texas Hold'em session runs April 2-20 at the Rio in Vegas with classes M-F 11- 4. An advanced session teaching other games runs April 23-May 11.

Phil Hellmuth and Dealer
This could be you (the guy on the right we mean).

What you need to get accepted:

  • Must be a team player with friendly outgoing personality and good customer service skills.
  • A neat professional appearance and good personal hygiene are essential.
  • Good math skills are required to calculate pots and required rakes.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age

You won't get paid for the training but you will get paid for the series. And we imagine the tip-out for the $1 million Big One will be decent.

3) The Moment Jason Mercier Became Jason Mercier

Remember what the live poker tournament circuit was like before Jason Mercier?

It's hard to believe he was never not there in his Miami warmups, but this YouTube clip we found reminded us he was once just a toque-wearing Florida Marlin fan (and online destroyer) who turned a great call into maybe the best three years in poker ever.
