PokerListings, 888poker Team Up for Innovative 2012 WSOP Coverage

The final table

The historic 2012 World Series of Poker is set to begin this weekend and for the eighth straight year PokerListings will be on location.

Starting May 27, a total of 61 WSOP bracelets will be awarded over the next 51 days and PokerListings will be there for every single one of them with live coverage, news, interviews, blogs, videos, photos, features and more.

Live coverage will be handled a little differently this year as PokerListings handpicked 14 of the biggest events this year and is set to provide comprehensive coverage of each event.

“We looked at the WSOP schedule and realized we could offer better, more interesting coverage if we targeted a selection of tournaments rather than covering every random $1k,” said Matt Showell, Editor in Chief at

“We're going full throttle with these featured events to bring readers a truly unique experience when they come to our site for WSOP coverage,” said Showell.

Some of the highlight events include the astounding $1 million buy-in Big One for One Drop, the $50k Players’ Championship, $10k 6-Max and of course the $10k No-Limit Hold’em Main Event.

PokerListings Puts a New Spin on Day 1 Live Coverage

PokerListings will provide coverage of each Day 1 in a format you’ve never seen anywhere else.

Each Day 1 (outside of the Big One, Main Event and Players’ Championship) will take place entirely in a non-traditional live update format.

Some of the various Day 1 formats you’ll see over the summer will include coverage made entirely of photos while others will highlight just the females in the field.

There will also be days where all the coverage on Day 1 will be focused on a single player such as Phil Ivey or Chris Moneymaker. More formats will be announced throughout the summer.

After Day 1 is complete the live updating team will switch to a more traditional live updating format so readers can follow their favorite pros as they battle to the final table.

As usual a key component of the coverage will include in-depth interviews with the biggest names in and out of poker.

Last year usual suspects such as Daniel Negreanu, Gus Hansen and Tom Dwan all provided notable quotes but also featured several crossover poker players including NBA star Paul Pierce, Sopranos actor Robert Iler and New York Times writer Nate Silver.

Every night readers will be able to find a WSOP 3-Bet recap, which will highlight the three biggest or most interesting stories that happened on any given day.

This PokerListings WSOP video team will also return for the 2012 Main Event with a regular show and standalone interviews.

All of our coverage this year will be sponsored by award-winning online poker room 888poker, which is the only online site that offers 3D and webcam poker.
