Poker.com saves online players' WSOP dreams

By Sarah Polson

Poker.com has stepped in to help another online poker site fulfill its promise to a few tournament winners. CnR Poker had told 10 winners of World Series of Poker prize packages from their site that they would be unable to fund the prizes, prompting Poker.com to offer help.

"This wasn't about saving face for a network or bailing out the other site. This was about poker industry people helping poker players. It's a good feeling to know we helped these players out and they will now be representing Poker.com at the WSOP," said Paul Cherry, Poker.com director of gaming.

Most of the players have now been contacted, and their trips have been re-organized. Poker.com has also upgraded the players' $11,000 WSOP package to a full $12,500 package like that given to players who won seats to the WSOP through Poker.com.

Cherry said the site has had a lot of positive feedback since announcing they wanted to help those players who weren't going to get the prize they'd earned.

Two of the players affected, who go by player names Caligard and Big Poppa, have both expressed their amazement and gratitude to Poker.com for their generosity.
