Poker tournament to benefit family of WPT cameraman
Gavin Smith is hosting the Paul Hannum No-Limit Hold'em Charity Tournament Aug. 29 at the Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, Calif., to raise money for Hannum's family. Hannum was a World Poker Tour (WPT) cameraman who died Aug. 3 from complications following an appendectomy.
The buy-in for the tournament is $1,000 and all proceeds will go to Hannum's fiancée Sarah Percy and their baby girl who is due in October. Donations for the family can also be made at www.babyhannum.com.
While poker players are opening their wallets to help the family, they'll also be gaining exposure for themselves as the final table will be broadcast live on the Web via "Live at the Bike" and offers first place a $25,000 seat in the WPT Championship Event taking place April 27, 2007.
The second place winner will receive a Paradise Poker Conquest tournament prize package which includes the $5,200 buy-in to the Main Event, six nights accommodation at Atlantis, Bahamas, and $1,000 added to the player's Paradise Poker account. The Conquest is being held May 12 through 18, 2007.
The third place player will earn a seat in the WPT Invitational taking place March 5, 2007.
