The Poker Tour of the Americas, created by Vega Promotions Systems Inc., has finally released the schedule for its inaugural season.

The PTA will have five stops on its tour during the 2009 season, and when it moves on to its second season it plans to expand to six stops.

The tentative schedule for 2009 is as follows:

  • Feb. 21-27: Guayaquil, Ecuador
  • April 10-17: San Jose, Costa Rica
  • June 5-12: Vancouver, British Columbia
  • Aug. 15-21: Cartagena, Colombia
  • Oct. 24-30: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

The tour will also include a Tournament of Champions to top off the 2009 season. The dates and locations for that event will be announced in the next few weeks as well.

The tournaments are invitational events, with players from all over the world able to win seats via online poker tournaments and live local satellite tournaments.

Initially the tour was slated to take place only at South American locations, but since its creation was announced, the tour has evolved to cover both North and South America.

In addition to promoting the PTA, Vega Promotions Systems Inc. will also be the executive producer of the video programming, and plans to air the tournaments throughout North and South America.
