Poker stands illegal in North Carolina
By PokerListings.com
North Carolina judge Orlando Hudson proclaimed that poker is illegal.
The constant battle of poker being a game of chance or a game of skill was ended earlier this week when the judge proclaimed it as a game of chance, hence illegal.
The decision was ruled due to the lawsuit filed by Durham poker club against former District Attorney Jim Hardin Jr., who claimed that poker too violates the law.
The Joker Club was all set to open their own poker establishment. They tried their best to pass poker as a game of skill and not chance but Superior Court Judge Orlando Hudson could not be influenced by their appeals.
However, he admitted that the gambling laws need to be changed as the current ones date back to 19th century, and are not that sound for the current gambling scenario.
