Viktor Blom
Viktor "Isildur1" Blom gives the poker world something to talk about.

Big action online and monster live tournament fields around the globe set the scene for this week’s In and Out List.

Get ready for that Monday morning water-cooler poker chat by forming some quick opinions on who to praise, and who to raze.

Poker’s In List: August 22-28, 2011

Viktor “Isildur1” Blom: In

Just two days ago we reported the top 10 winners and losers this week in online poker. Ilari “Ilari FIN” Sahamies topped that list with over $1 million in profits over the seven preceding days.

How things have changed.

Viktor Blom went on an absolute heater over the last 48 hours, winning roughly $1.4 million in the last two days.

Blom had a particularly fruitful three-hour session yesterday against Sahamies, winning $724,000.

And this happening just as Ilari Sahamies had almost eradicated the massive downswing he’s been on over the last few months.

Giant Live Tournament Fields: In

Right now there are two poker majors in progress: EPT Barcelona and the WPT Legends of Poker. Both of them have recorded startlingly large attendance numbers over the last few days.

If you’re the kind of person who likes to look on the bright side, Black Friday certainly seems to have injected new life into the live tournament circuit.

Overall numbers at this year’s WSOP broke records. 757 buy-ins were recorded at WPT Legends and EPT Barcelona set the record for the biggest poker tournament in Spain’s history with 811 entrants.

The WSOP Main Event on ESPN: In

ESPN’s broadcast of the 2011 WSOP Main Event has reached Day 3, taking us one step closer to the tournament’s conclusion in November.

Featured prominently in the episode are ESPN fave Daniel Negreanu, eventual November Niner Ben Lamb and all-around poker demi-god Patrik Antonius.

Poker’s Out List: August 22-28, 2011

Dan Bilzerian’s Lifestyle: Out

We received word via Andrew Robl’s Twitter account that Dan Bilzerian had suffered his third heart attack.

We’re not here to throw around health advice but it certainly seems something in Bilzerian’s life has to change.

I mean, three heart attacks and the guy’s only 30 years old.

Bilzerian has always struck us as living in a kind of dream world. Maybe this incident will wake him up.

Live Poker in Mexico

In the wake of the recent casino fire-bombing in Monterey, Mexico people have to be giving second thought to playing live poker in similar establishments.

The attack is reportedly yet another strike in the ongoing drug cartel wars that have plagued the North American country.

The incident may also influence US online poker players considering Mexico as a new part-time home from which to play poker on the internet.

Poker Pros Network: Out

The Poker Pros Network online poker room has announced that they are effectively pulling out of the US market, and they’re doing it quickly.

Currently on the Cake Network, PPN has moved its website to a .eu domain, and will stop accepting players from the US on August 31.

PPN will  be leaving the Cake Network in the near future and introducing new software features including live dealers and dealers’ choice cash games.
