Question

In your six-max game online a loose-aggressive fish in middle position bets $8. You three-bet to $30 and he calls. The flop comes A 4 8. You c-bet $40 and he insta-shoves all in for $232.

What should you do?

Correct Answer: Call

This is an insta-call. You have top pair, second kicker vs. a LAG fish. It’s very likely that he has a ace with a worse kicker, but he can also have a flush draw. If you’re three-betting this hand for value vs. a fish you absolutely have to stack off when the hand plays out like this.

  • Call (84%)
  • Fold (16%)

Question

You’re playing in a live full-ring game at your local casino. In this hand it’s raised to $10 by a loose player in early position. Players 3, 5, 6 and the cut-off call. You call on the button and the blinds call. The flop comes 8 9 4. The blinds check and the original pre-flop raiser c-bets $60. The cut-off calls.

What should you do?

Correct Answer: Raise all-in

This is a spot where you have to raise all-in. With $200 in the pot already and only $188 behind, you have to get all-in. You can’t call and fold on the turn if you miss. You have 15 outs twice and are a favorite even vs. an overpair. This is a no-brainer. Shove all-in.

  • Call (24%)
  • Fold (1%)
  • Raise all-in (75%)

Question

In your six-max game online it’s folded around to the aggressive button who raises to $6.

What should you do?

Correct Answer: Three-bet

Now probably all three can be correct, but three-betting is the best answer. It’s not a three-bet truly for value but it’s not completely light either. It’s very difficult to play out of position with this hand without the initiative. When you three-bet you will win the pot initially very often. You’ll also often win at least one or two streets vs a pocket pair when you flop a jack. The problem with calling is that you’re going to be check-folding the flop way too often. When in doubt, playing with the initiative is better than playing without it.

  • Fold (16%)
  • Call (33%)
  • Three-bet (52%)

What should you do?

Correct Answer: Raise All-in

You have to shove this. You have about 10bb, so every time you steal the blinds it adds almost 20% to your stack. Raise all-in and hope to win the blinds.

Question

In your six-max game online it’s raised under the gun by a tight regular to $8. You call on the button and the blinds fold. The flop comes Q 5 3. UTG bets $14 and you call. The turn comes the K. He bets $40. You call and the river comes A. UTG bets $100.

What should you do?

Correct Answer: Raise All-in

Raise all-in. It’s unlikely that he’ll fold for just $100 more in a huge pot so just shove it in and expect to be called by any number of two-pair combinations.

Question

You're playing in the early stages of the Sunday Million. In this hand it's folded to you and you make it $450 in the hi-jack. The cut off folds and the button calls. The blnds fold and the flop comes Q T 4. You bet $1,000 and he calls. The turn comes A. You bet $2,300 and he shoves all-in for $11,230.

What should you do?

Correct Answer: Fold

Though you have two pair they're basically worthless. If your opponent has any other two pair you're basically crushed. But two pair is the bottom of range. More likely he turned a straight or flopped a set. Just fold and wait for a better spot.

  • Call (43%)
  • Fold (57%)
