Question

It's folded around to the small blind and he raises to $6. You three-bet to $19 as a bluff and your opponent calls. The flop comes K T 7. He checks and you c-bet $30. He calls and the turn is the A. He checks.

What should you do?

Correct Answer: Bet

Fire a second barrel. An ace is always a great card to fire a second barrel. If your opponent were to have called with any pair he now has to worry about another over card to his hand. You also still have your double gutter to fall back on if you are called. So fire that second barrel.

Question

You're playing a $10/$20 limit game at your local casino. In this hand there's a family limped pot to you in the big blind.

What should you do?

Correct Answer: Raise

Raise and build the pot for your set. This is a limit game. Nobody is ever going to fold for another bet. You're going to flop a set approximately 1 in 7 times and there's 9 people in the pot, so put another bet in. Of course if you miss the flop, just check and fold.

Question

In your six-max game online it's folded to you in the cut-off. You raise to $8 and a very fishy player calls on the button. The blinds fold and the flop comes 7 9 5. yYou bet $15 and he calls. The turn comes 6. You check and he bets $60. You call and the river comes 2. You check and he bets $150.

What should you do?

Correct Answer: Fold

This is a fold you just have to make. Your opponent may bluff the turn but he probably isn't going to bluff this river. He probably has something like 89 or T8 or 88. He has the straight so just fold.

Question

You're playing in the middle stages of an online MTT. Your image is one of the more aggressive at the table and it feels like the players on your left are ready to play back at you. In this hand you raise to $1200 and the player directly on your left raises all-in for $8,300. It's folded to the player in the small blind who shoves for $15,000.

What should you do?

Correct Answer: Call

It's an ugly spot but you have to call. You've got just more than 20bb and your opponent could be shoving a wide range. The small blind could have realized that and be looking to snap him off with something like JJ or AQ or sometimes even worse. You could also be flipping for a very large pot. So far away from the money you have to make this call. If you win the pot you have a big stack and if you lose, well you're out.

Question

In your live $2/$5 game a player limps from early position and you raise to $45 in the hijack. A very weak player calls on the button and a short stack in the big blind goes all-in for $120. The limper folds.

What should you do?

Correct Answer: Call

Your hand is strong enough that you can just call here and attempt to stack the button on a decent flop. He almost surely isn't folding for $80 more in an already decent-sized pot. So just call and keep him in.

Question

In your six-max game online a very loose and aggressive player limps in from the cut-off. Your read on him is that he loves to spring on weakness and that he's not able to rein his aggression in. The button folds as does the small blind. You raise to $10 and he calls. The flop comes Q 3 8 and you c-bet $15. He calls and the turn comes 2.

What should you do?

Correct Answer: Check

This is a spot where you can check and get your opponent to bet with basically 100% of his range. This type of player loves to bluff so giving him an opportunity can be very +ev.

Question

You're playing in a live $2/$5 game at your local casino. In this hand a deep stacked and decently bad player raises to $25 under the gun. Player 3, another fishy player, calls. You call and a good player calls behind you on the button. The blinds fold and the flop comes 5 3 2. The original raiser bets $75 and Player 3 folds. You call and the button moves in for $425. The original raiser calls.

What should you do?

Correct Answer: Fold

First off calling is not an option. With the button's shove and the call there is already over $1,000 in the pot. Furthermore UTG only has $500 behind so calling now and folding on the turn is probably a mistake. You'd be better off just shoving now. But shoving probably isn't correct either because you're forced to risk almost 200bb with a potentially dominated draw. The best move is to FOLD and wait for a better spot.
