Question

In a six-max game online, you raise it to $8 from middle position. The decent but predictable player on the button calls and another regular calls in the big blind. The flop comes 3 J 8 and the big blind checks.

What should you do?

Correct Answer: Continuation bet

This board may not be the best to bet into two calling stations on, but against two regulars it's a pretty good spot to c-bet. Thinking players always give a player that bets into two people more credit than if he were to just c-bet vs. one player. So they will be playing very standard in a spot like this. C-bet and expect to take it down a high percentage of the time.

Question

In your regular six-max game online, it's folded to you in the small blind. You raise to $8 and the big blind calls. The flop comes 5 7 9.

What should you do?

Correct Answer: Check

This may be one of the drawy-est boards ever. Your opponent will call with a wide range in the big blind and almost every hand either flops a pair or a draw that will call. So just check and fold.

Question

You're playing in a six-max game online. In this hand, player 1 limps UTG and you raise to $8 from the cut-off. The good player on the button calls as well as the limper. Three ways to an A 3 8 board. Player 1 checks.

What should you do?

Correct Answer: Check

This board is very dry. If you bet, you're never going to get called by worse. You have a hand with decent showdown value. Betting just gets worse hands to fold and better hands to call. Check and then play poker.

Question

In your regular six-max game online, it's folded to you in the cut-off. You raise to $8 and only the big blind calls. The flop comes 7 2 T and the big blind checks.

What should you do?

Correct Answer: Continuation bet

This is a flop where either he has the draw or he doesn't. Most players play very straight forward on monotone boards. So fire a barrel and expect him to fold

Question

In a six-max game online, you raise to $8 UTG. You're called by a decent player in the cut-off and everyone else folds. The flop comes Q 8 2.

What should you do?

Correct Answer: Continuation bet

With you being the UTG raiser, your opponent will put you on a tighter range of hands and will be less likely to play back at you. This board is good to continuation-bet on, because even if called you have a gutshot draw plus a backdoor flush draw.

Question

In a six-max game online, it's folded to you in the cut-off. You raise to $8 and the tough regular on the button calls. Everyone else folds. The flop comes T 9 3.

What should you do?

Correct Answer: Check

This board is just far too likely to have helped your opponent. You have very little fold equity and will be out of position with very little equity when called. Just check this and fold if he bets.

Question

You're playing in a six-max game online. In this hand, it's folded around to you in the cut-off and you raise to $8. A weak player calls in the small blind and everyone else folds. The flop comes 5 8 2. He checks and you bet $15. The small blind check-raises to $30.

What should you do?

Correct Answer: Re-raise to $95

You have the nuts here but calling just isn't all that good. If he has a hand like #Th#Ts or #5c#5h and you just flat-call his raise and another diamond peels off, you're not going to get any action. Same goes if he has a small flush. Your best bet is to raise him and hope he comes along.
