Question

You’re playing in an online six-max game, and in this hand it’s folded to you in the cut-off. You raise to $8. The big blind, who is an aggressive, tough player, three-bets to $28 and you elect to call. The flop comes 8 9 K and he bets $40.

What should you do?

Correct Answer: Raise all-in

If you aren't going to make a move with this hand when you flop a great draw like this, you should fold it pre-flop. Once you call and flop that open-ender it’s time to semi-bluff all-in.

  • Raise all-in (45%)
  • Fold (15%)
  • Call (40%)

Question

You are playing a six-max $1/$2 game online. In this hand it’s folded around to you and you raise to $8. Only the big blind calls, and you see a flop heads-up of A 5 Q. The big blind checks and you bet $14. He calls. The turn comes K; he checks; you bet $40. He check-raises all-in.

What should you do?

Correct Answer: Fold

Unless you and your opponent have some sort of crazy history, you are basically never good here. Although your hand is strong, your opponent is representing a set at very least. I would muck this hand and move on to the next.

  • Fold (70%)
  • Call (30%)

Question

In this hand of your six-max game online a loose-passive player limps under the gun and you isolate him by raising to $8 on the button. The blinds fold and the limper calls. The flop comes Q 5 4 and your opponent bets out $12.

What should you do?

Correct Answer: Call

Although raising against a decent player who donk-bets into you after raising might be right, against a loose-passive player it probably isn't. Loose players put in far too much money with dominated hands, so don't bother raising as a semi-bluff. Instead just call, hit your hand and then bet big, and you will make far more in the long run.

  • Raise (39%)
  • Call (56%)
  • Fold (5%)
