Poker player takes bad hand out on peers
By Erin Warner
Several guests at a poker party in Hillsboro, Ore., became victims of a bad beat last week when a disgruntled man took his game frustrations out on his fellow card players.
Following a succession of bad poker hands the evening of Nov. 18, Alfonso Villa-Chavez became violently angry, according to Hillsboro Police Department reports. The 33-year-old's irritation only grew as he started losing money.
Finally his frustration exploded with Villa-Chavez running outside and punching a car windshield. He then came inside and began fighting with members of the party, before fleeing the scene on foot.
Police were called to the residence, located in a northwest Hillsboro neighborhood, and started searching for Villa-Chavez with a canine tracking team. Shortly after, Villa Chavez was found hiding nearby, and police arrested him on charges of criminal mischief and for having an outstanding warrant.
