Darus Suharto at the 2008 WSOP Main Event final table
By: Matthew Showell

Darus Suharto qualified for the WSOP Main Event for just $80 on PokerStars.com and when all was said and done he pocketed $2,418,562. Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Suharto plans to head back to work next week despite becoming a multi-millionaire here tonight.

After hitting the rail in sixth place Darus spent a few minutes with the media for a quick Q & A.

Darus, how are you feeling?

To be honest I'm disappointed. I'm very disappointed. Of course on the whole it was a great tournament and a great run but I am disappointed.

What are your plans for the money and for the immediate future?

Well, it's not enough money to retire or anything so I'll just be investing it. I'm headed back to work next week. I will be taking some time off for Christmas and I'll definitely be playing more poker. I can pretty much play anything I want.

What was your strategy coming in and what adjustments did you make as you were playing?

For the first few orbits I just wanted to sit down and see what was going on, get a feel for the table. If I picked up a hand I was ready to play but I just wanted to get comfortable. Also if people were making opening raises that I thought were weak I just re-pop.

That's pretty much it. For the last few hands I was a bit short, around 20 big blinds, which isn't a good spot. I couldn't raise with anything I wasn't prepared to go all-in with but I was still looking for good spots to re-steal.

The real Suharto.

I spent some time with Eric Lynch preparing for this tournament, going through different scenarios which was very helpful.

You qualified online for a really small amount. Did you ever seriously entertain the idea of making it this far?

Absolutely not. I qualified for $80 on PokerStars. That was my only investment. But I obviously didn't expect to make it this far. When I flew down from Toronto I was really just trying to make the money, like I did in 2006. I still think I'm a donkey.

Thanks Darus and congratulations.
