Poker News in Brief: April 4-10, 2011

With heavy action online and live, plus Peter Eastgate admitting to the staff he lost millions betting on the World Cup, it was a busy week in the PokerListings news room.

A few smaller stories may have slipped through the cracks, but we've grabbed them and compiled them below in our weekly Poker News in Brief feature.

This week, Team Canada joins WTP, UB is sending players to the Heartland, Titan wants to see you at the WSOP and more.

Team Canada Joins WTP Event

Captained by multiple WSOP bracelet winner Greg Mueller, Team Canada will participate in the World Team Poker Las Vegas event next month.

Joining Mueller on the team will be 2007 WPT Mandalay Bay winner Shawn Buchanan, WPT and WSOPE bracelet winner Erik Cajelais, online Limit Hold'em specialist Terrence Chan, WSOP final tablists Eric Cloutier, Daniel Peter Idema and Owen Crowe, respected pro Steven Goosen, WSOP and Aussie Millions finalist Peter Jetten, WPT and WSOP title holder Nenad Medic and 2005 WPT Player of the Year Gavin Smith.

The World Team Poker annual Championship Event brings teams together in Las Vegas May 24-26 to compete for pride, passion, and Country.

UB and the HPT

UB is hosting a satellite series sending players to stops on the Heartland Poker Tour.

Starting Sunday, April 10th, the online poker room is running a weekly Super Satellite guaranteeing the winner a $2,000 HPT VIP prize package.

Players can buy-in directly for $200+15, or qualify through satellite feeders beginning at $0.11.

The tournaments will run Sundays at at 4:35 p.m. ET.

A number of Team UB pros will also be joining the qualifiers at events.

Bryan Devonshire will be at this week's Golden Gates Casino HPT event in Colorado, and Joe Sebok will play in the May 14-15 HPT Main Event at the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.

HTP stops confirmed for 2011 include casinos in Colorado, Oklahoma, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Florida and Nevada.

Unibet Open Satellites Launched

Unibet has kicked off a series of qualifiers for the Unibet Open Online and Unibet Open Barcelona.

The €300+€20 Unibet Open Online will go off May 15, at 7 p.m. CET with a guaranteed prize pool of €25,000.

Daily qualification is now underway, including a €55+5 satellite Monday to Wednesday at 10 p.m. CET and a €100+10 satellite Thuirsday to Sunday at 10 p.m. CET.

Players can qualify for these satellites through daily freerolls and €2 feeder satellites.

In the meantime, qualification for stop four on the tour, the Unibet Open Barcelona main event June 9-12, is also underway.

There are freerolls and €2 feeders each day for satellites offering a €2,500 package including four nights accommodation, buy in to the €1,500+€150 main event, daily breakfast and dinner and €300 towards travel expenses.

Titan Poker Giving Away WSOP Packages

Titan Poker is offering its players multiple ways to win their way into the 2011 World Series of Poker.

The online poker site is awarding 2011 Main Event packages to winners of its Sunday and Tuesday night Super Satellite tournaments.

Each package is worth $13,000 and includes the $10,000 buy-in, seven nights’ accommodation and $1,770 for flights and spending money.

Titan Poker is also staging a Super Satellite tournament series awarding winning players with a $13,000 package to the WSOP's $10k Pot-Limit Omaha Championship.

Plus, two additional Super Satellite tournament series will award winners with entries to two different No-Limit Hold’em Side Events.

These packages are valued at $5,500-and $3,500.

The top ten players on Titan Poker’s WSOP Warrior League leaderboard will also be awarded WSOP prize packages, including an exclusive $20,000 Warriors Package that includes entry to the Main Event. A total of $100,000 in prizes will be distributed to players in the Warrior League.

Plus, the site's four-month multi-table tournament race will award the top twenty players on its leaderboard with a $5,000 WSOP Experience package including an entry to one of the Side Events.
