Poker loses top spot in search engine
By Sarah Polson
Poker slipped on the Lycos Top 50, a list of the search engine's most popular search terms. It went from the number one search word to number eight in just one week.
Poker has been on the weekly Lycos Top 50 for the past 148 weeks. During the first week of November it hit the number one spot but dropped by Nov. 11 with spyware taking its place.
The term did manage to stay above other popular search words from the week before such as Paris Hilton and Halloween. However, Pamela Anderson moved up on the charts to the number two spot along with other terms that moved up and over poker on the list.
Poker had held the top spot and the number two spot a few times before dropping all the way to number eight.
The Lycos Top 50 lists the people, places and things most searched on Lycos each week. It is derived from the approximately 12 million queries the search engine receives every day.
