Poker Hand Rankings FAQ
-
Does a straight beat a flush?
No. This is one of the most common misconceptions in poker. In Texas Holdem a flush (five cards of the same suit) always beats a straight (five cards in a numeric sequence). A straight-flush, which is five cards of the same suit in consecutive order, beats both hands. -
What poker hand is better - two pair or three of a kind?
Three-of-a-kind always beats two-pair. The only “made” poker hand that two-pair beats is one pair. -
Does “All Reds” or “All Blacks” beat a straight?
“All Reds” or “All Blacks” doesn’t beat/mean anything in poker. To make a flush in poker you have to have five cards of the same SUIT. That means five spades, hearts, clubs or diamonds. Having all one color is not a poker hand. -
Does it matter if I have higher flush cards?
It does. In No-Limit Hold’em if you have a flush with an ace as the highest card and your opponent has a flush with a king as the high card, you win. The easiest way to understand who wins is to lay out your complete five-card hand and compare it with your opponent’s hand. If anyone has a higher card, that person wins (obviously you both share the cards on the board). -
Which suit in poker is ranked the highest?
In virtually all poker games, suits don’t count. Spades aren’t better than hearts, clubs aren’t higher than diamonds, etc. If you have the same poker hand as your opponent but in different suits you simply split the pot. This misconception is from other games where suits do matter. -
Are Poker Hand Rankings different for other poker games?
Actually, yes. For the main poker variations - Texas Hold'em, Pot-Limit Omaha, Seven-Card Stud, 5-Card Draw - hand rankings are the same. But for split games - Omaha Hi-Lo, Stud Hi-Lo - half of the pot is awarded to the lowest hand. For lowball games like 2-7 Triple Draw and Razz only the lowest hand will win the pot. Straights and flushes don't count in Razz while in 2-7 they actually count against you. -
How are hands ranked in 3-Card Poker?
3-Card Poker is a casino table game and, while it does have the name 'poker' in its title, it isn't exactly the same game. The poker hand rankings used are the same as in standard poker variations with a major exception - straights and flushes are reversed. That means in 3-Card Poker a straight BEATS a flush. -
What do I beat if I have 3 Pairs?
Absolutely nothing. You just use your two highest pairs. There is no such thing as “3-pair” in poker. -
Is there a difference between Trips and a Set? Which is better?
Trips and a set are the same hand: Three-of-a-kind. The difference is how you acquire three-of-a-kind. A set is made when your pocket pair hits one card on the board. Trips are made when you utilize two cards on the board and one in your hand to make three-of-a-kind. Because they are much easier to conceal when betting, sets are generally considered the better hand. -
What if there’s a straight on the board?
You chop the pot. That’s provided that no player has a better hand (flush or higher) or someone has a higher straight using the cards in their hand. -
What is a Four-Flush in poker?
A four-flush is when you use four cards of the same suit on the board and one from your hand to complete a flush. It’s worth noting this is one of the key differences between No-Limit Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha. In PLO you have to use two of your cards so you can’t have a four-flush. -
What if I have the same pair as my opponent?
If both players have the same pair, the highest non-matched cards (the "kicker') are compared to determine the winner. If both players have the same high card, the next highest cards are compared. If both players have the exact same pair AND the exact same kicker cards, the pot is split. -
Can you make a Straight with 4-3-2-A-K?
No. While the ace can make both the lowest straight (A-2-3-4-5) and the highest straight (A-K-Q-J-10) it can’t wrap around. -
Does my 3-3-3-A-A Full House beat my opponent’s 8-8-8-K-K?
Nope. When it comes to full houses the highest of the three-of-a-kinds determines the winner. In the example above the full house with three 8s tops the full house with three 3s. -
Who wins with Four-of-a-Kind on the board?
The player with the highest kicker. For instance if the board is 8-8-8-8-5, you have A-K and your opponent has K-Q, you win. (Your best five-card hand is 8-8-8-8-A, his is 8-8-8-8-K). If the board was 8-8-8-8-A you’d split the pot as the best five-card hand for both of you is 8-8-8-8-A. -
What’s the difference Between Four-of-a-Kind and “Quads”?
Nothing. They’re exactly the same hand.
Quick question regarding low hands: If the board is A-2-8-J-Q , which of these two cards would win the low? 4-5 vs. 3-6. Both players would play the low to the 8, but the question is do we play the low from the top down, meaning 4-5 wins; or bottom up, meaning 3-6 would win?
@Woodrow: Low hands are always evaluated top down. In your example 8-5-4-2-A (an 8-5-low) would beat 8-6-3-2-A (an 8-6-low).
I had a 3 of diamonds on a five card flush And the other hand had no diamonds in His hand who wins
@Ken – depends on the board. Lets say the board is Ad Kd Td 7d 2d and you have the 3d. Then the best 5 card hand you can make is Ad Kd Td 7d 3d while your opponent who doesn’t have a diamond can only play the board. In that case your flush is higher than his and you win.
But if the board reads for example Ad Kd Td 7d 6d then the best hand you can make is already the board. The 3d in your hand doesn’t matter on this board. You and your opponent play the board and it’s a split pot.
Hey
Which straight flush wins?
A2345 or 34567
Hi Johnny,
3, 4, 5, 6, 7 would win as it is the higher straight. The last card in the sequence determines the winning hand.
Thanks,
PokerListings Team
WHAT IS LOWEST HAND IN HIGH AND LOW GAMES AND ARE STRAIGHT AND FLUSHS CONSEDER,
@B1LLOCK: This really depends on the specific game you are playing. If you’re playing Omaha-8 or Stud-8 for example the highest hand is a Royal Flush and the lowest hand is A-2-3-4-5 since straights and flushes don’t count against low hands in this variant.
In Omaha I have aq26 Against kj56 On the board is 99775 who wins the hand?
@Brett: You have to use exactly two of your hole cards. So the best hand you can make is A-Q-9-9-7 (one pair). Your opponent can make this hand: K-9-9-5-5 (two pair) Thus your opponent wins this hand.
Dealer has 9 9 9 KA if I have 347JK or QQ889, 2456k,JJ1010K, AA23J,36810Q,2248A,3456Q will I beat the dealer with any of these?
@Brian: The Dealer has Trips (nines). The other hands are:
347JK (King High)
QQ889 (Two Pair)
2456k (King High)
JJ1010K (Two Pair)
AA23J (One Pair)
36810Q (Queen High)
2248A (One Pair)
3456Q (Queen High)
None of those hands beat Trips.
Who wins 4 7 9 2 of the same suit an a As of a different suit an the dealer has a straight who wins in As high
@Mike: I don’t quite understand the question. Are you asking who wins if the board shows a straight? In that case – unless someone can beat that straight – the pot is split between all players.
In seven card stud if there were 2 straight flushes with identical cards would the hand be chopped or would the winner be the suit detirmene the winner?
@Nedda, In that case it’s a chop. The only time suits count in stud is when the bring-in needs to be determined (if two players have the lowest card showing, let’s say a 2, the player with the lowest suit has to post the bring-in. Suites are ranked alphabetically: clubs < diamonds < hearts < spades).
in omaha if the 5 on the board were 3As,8,9 and i have a one As ,2,6,and 10 do i have 4 As or does one of my remaning 3 cards need to match the 8 or 9?
Hey Ronald, yes you need to use two cards from the four in your hand, so Ace can be one of them, giving you quads.
Hello all… question, please…
The board shows unsuited AKQ43. Player A has 109, Player B has 108. Does player A win with 10 & 9 in play as high cards, beating Player B’s 10 & 8 in play? Just wanted to be sure that both pocket cards are in play as high cards and not just one of the hold cards as a single kicker.
Thanks!
Hey Bob, the winner will be the player with the higher kicker – so T9
What wins when all players have a flush on the river? Is it a split pot or does it go to next best / highest run or card?
Hey Peter,
The player with the highest flush would win. Example Ace high flush beats King high flush – and so on.
7 card stud
each player has 2 pair
jacks and 4
9 and 7
who wins
When comparing 2 two-pair hands the better high pair always win. In this case the player with Jacks and Fours wins the pot because Jacks are higher than Nines.
Andrew AA IS BIGGER U WIN
If i have AA and 44 and my friend has 66 and 1010 who wins?
I need help plz pair of 5 and 3 straight 10 J Q beat 2 3 4 8 A
Does a hand of 3 kings a 3 and a7 beat a Two pair of two aces two eights and a 2 in high card poker.???
Split
Troll
There is no such thing as a small straight. You have to have all 5 in a row
It depends on the suits of the cards. With the information you gave, one player has 2 pair kings high, the other player has 2 pair 7s high. So the kings win because they are higher.
Depending on the suits, the player with the A 2 could have a flush, which would win. The player with K K can’t have a flush, no matter what the suits are.
Need help with a hand. In table cards: 5 5 7 7 6. Player cards: K K. And. A 2. Which one wins ?
Can u play a small straight 3-4-5-6-K. High straight 3-4-5-6-7?
the 4’s win because they have a full house, while the other has three of a kind
I am not seeing any five of a kinds. What’s up with that?
No, dealer has full house.
You split the pot. You can only use a max amount of 5 cards to make a hand, whether it’s from the community cards or from your hands.
10 d wins. Highest three of a kind wins
10-A vs 10-Q. On the board 8-9-J-Q-4. Who wins? Bf says 10-Q cause he’s using two cards out of his hand. I say split
Who wins this scenario dealer 8d&8h I had a 10d&Qh community cards are 5c,10h, Ad, 10s, 8s?
Not true. Only 5 cards can be in play. Here both players have the same full house , aces over 2s. There is no ‘kicker’
In this case the highest cards full house is considered only because it is higher, and pays more than 3 of a kind
Player 1 wins. Though both qualify for a full house, player 1 has the upper hand because he/she has a king high card while the other has a 2. King is higher than 2
Royal flush, straight flush, four of a kind and full house all beats a flush
Yes, because three of a kind jacks is higher than a pair of aces
Does a J-J-J-6-7 beat a A-A-2-8-K ? No matching suits on either hand?
what beats a 4,6,J,Q,A of the same suit
dumbest story ever
Who wins the pot on this full house? Player 1 – A & K , Player 2 – A & 2. Now the board 2-2-A-A-7
If there is trips on the board and one player has a smaller pair that he got dies his pair beat ace high in Omaha
is anybody can answer please?
what is jack or better?
Hi every one if player has ten d ace spade community is 4 spade 10 huert. 10 spade. 3 spade. 6 huert. Player 2 has 4 huert and 4 club who won
If I have a 3 of a kind with twos as well as a full house on the board do both the 3 of a kind and full house count or just the full house?
Can anyone tell me weather I have a winning hand or not please 2, 4, 5, 6 and 9 of clubs vs 3 x 9’s???
in a Hi Lo game, what is the lowest hand you can get?
No Tina. The dealer has two pair and you have Q-high, assuming the suits in your hand are not all the same. If you had all diamonds for example (it doesn’t matter which suit, just make sure they’re all the same one), you would win.
Hey Scott. Player 1 wins because they have the next highest spade. You always check the highest spade and if it is the same for both players (the A on the board), you go to the next one and so on until you get to the 5th spade. If the 5th spade is also the same, you split the pot. Remember that a straight flush beats a flush. So if Player 1 has A 3 spades and Player 2 has 8 7 spades, if the flop is 6 5 4 of spades, Player 2 now wins.
Hey Mat. If you have 77 and I have AT, and the flop comes AA7, I only have three of a kind while you have a full house. You would currently have the best hand. If the turn and river do not play out in my favour (running pair higher than your hand, another A, or a T), I would win. Is that clearer?
Yes house 6 beats a pair 9
You must see the cards on the table , the players might have a over pair . And if the table do not contain the next highest card like A or Q
P2 as he have 2 pairs with 10(T) high
If 6789A has the same suit then yes it does
All hearts 56789 (straight flush) wins a flush 610QKA
Depends on the suit , if your suit is the same for all 5 cards you would have a flash and you would have won the straight
Any four of a kind, full house or straight flush
Nope , you are wrong your opponent has 5 cards of the same suit which is a flush while you only have a pair
Can someone clear this up getting mixed information if one hand is holding pocket 7s set and one holding A 10 trip for example flop lands two As one 7. Who wins
Ok so in a flush where on the board is A J 6 of same suit spades
Player 1 has K 3 spades
Player 2 has 10 5 spade.
Does player 1 win bc of K or split pot bc of A on the board?
Yea, you’re right.
Thank you so much!
I have new scenario, but I’m going to explain why I think I won. Please tell me if im right. Thank you!
Qsp/Jdm (my cards) vs 6ht/7ht (their cards)
Community cards: 8ht, 10dm, 3ht, Qht, 7dm
The reason I think I won is because I have a pair (Q-Q) and they have a pair (7-7). My Queens trump a pair of sevens if I’m correct. I really do appreciate your help. Thanks
Your opponent as he’s having a full-house (5-5-8-8-8), whereas you’re having a set (8-8-8: the one on the board).
I have never played poker, but I do understand the rankings. I love playing 5 card cash scratch off, but I can’t for the life of me tell if I’ve won. Here is an example table on my card….
Qclub/Acesp(my cards) vs 5ht/5dm(their cards)
Community cards: 8dm, 9sp, 10dm, 8ht, 8club
Can somebody tell me who won and why? Thank you so much
If dealer has 9.-9-6-6-3 my hand is 3 -4-5-8-Q. Did i win
Does a straight flush beat a full house with three aces as nd 2 fives
Qc/Jd wins as they’ve made a Queen high straight, 8 to Q. The second hand only has a pair of 4s.
Hey can u help me out with that question?
Qclub and jackdiamon vs 5spade and 4club..the community cards are 9hearts, 8 club, 10 heart, 4spades, and 6 heart…who won..new poker player
Nope
Yes
Dealer
Ur opponent
A 4 of kind and full house
3 of kinds beats 2 pairs
does AKQQ (different suit)beat KJ65-J (same suit with J high in different suit)
Hello i wanted to know if AAKK5 beat 33327? An if not what does?
These questions can’t be serious
What hand would beat an A-A-A-3-10 and the kind of cards in the row are— ♦♣♠♣♠. Can someone tell me what would beat it please
IF DEALERS HAND HAS THE NUMBER 3 OF A KIND 333210
MY HAND IS AAJJ2
WHO WINS
If my hand is KQJ10 4
Opponent hand KQJ10 9 who has better hand
Who wins all Hearts 56789 or All Spades 610QKA
Witch of these can beat my 3 of a kind… 9-10-j-q-2…8-8-6-6-j-q…k-k-6-6-5…2-4-6-10-k…9-9-5-7-j.3-7-10-q-a…a-a-8-8-k
No. 10,10,10,2,9 is a better hand considering its a three of a kind. 6,7,8,9,A has no value.
does 6789A beat 10101029
p1 Q3 off
p2 QT off
flop 5KK 7 Q who is winner??
It’s a possibility in non-community card games like Stud. Certainly not possible in Hold’Em or PLO, but it is possible in some other poker variants
Does my 3-3-3-A-A Full House beat my opponent’s 8-8-8-K-K?
…….
Are you joking? How would be this possible in one hand?
IT’S IMPOSSIBLE that in one hand two people are having two full houses in the format you presented. They will never have different full houses without sharing some of the cards. You have there: 3 of three, 2 of aces, 3 of eight and 2 of king = 10 cards. But this is IMPOSSIBLE. The community cards plus each player’s 2 cards means 9 cards, not 10.
Please, edit the article.
I do not know why I wrote that, lol, I don’t remember doing it…
Q2
No neither do. This is the hands weakest to strongest:
High card, pair, 2 pair, 3 of a kind, straight, flush, full house (which is both a pair and a 3 of a kind), 4 of a kind, straight flush, royal flush (which is the highest straight flush).
The next best hand would be 9 10 J Q K same suit.
No, it isn’t.
Q 2 is the winner. You take the five highest scoring cards. So each player has a two pair Ks and 8s and the second player’s Q beats the first player’s 4.
No.
K K 3 8 8 (4 4) (Q 2) who is the winner?
in REAL poker you play with 52 cards. There should be max 4 aces in one deck.
If 4567A was the same suit (ace-high flush), and your hand was not, it is possible.
you have to formulate you question better
no, nothing beats a Royal flush
Sb sits left to the dealer, big blind sits left to the small blind. A big blind is the minimum bet, and a small blind is half the big blind.
A flush is any five cards of the same suit (not consecutive). “The Flush Guy” has straight flush
no, only 52 cards are used.
In poker if sb sits next to the dealer is the small blind and the other one next to him the big? How much does each blind have to bet?
are jokers used in poker
Anyone that can explain does 2 pair or 3 of a kind beat a regular flush?
Do four aces beat a Royal flush?
Poker does not use “wild’ cards, only children do, and the rules are not in stone for those types of hands…
Straight flush beats everything except a straight flush with a higher card at the end…
If you are playing poker, there is NO wild card. Stick to Uno, Rummy, or something kids play…
Clover? You need to find another hobby… That second hand is just Ace high, so 1 pair of two’s would beat the second hand, The first hand is a straight, it would beat 1 pair, 2 pair, 3 of a kind, and ace high…
You don’t know what you’re talking about, and you’re certainly not playing poker…
That is the lowest straight flush you can have. Regardless, it would beat most everything…
But six of a kind is possible!!
Nope, because 4567A is only a hand if they are all one suit, like all spades, hearts, clubs, or diamonds. Otherwise it is just an Ace high card. The 23456 is a straight regardless of suit. Flush beats straight unless it is a flush with the cards in consecutive order. Straight Flush is high, royal flush is highest.
in old good rules, poker is always better, if you have 4 aces it is impossible to have royal flush, same thing with 4 k or q… simple, highest card in poker has to be better of highest card in flush. so straight flash up to to q is better than poker of 7 but worse than poker of kings
I had on a online game a of 23456 and lost to 4567A. Is this possible?
Darla, just let logics do the math here. How many cards of the same rank are there in a deck of cards? Yes, 4.. So obviously having a 5 of a kind is just impossible.
Is there such a thing as 5 of a kind? I had four aces last night and because someone had 5 of a kind they won…there’s no such thing as 5 of a kind in poker!
do you play online for real money? hope not!
bullshit royal flush it the highest ranking hand
The second hand because jj99 plays and the Q is the kicker
The 98 hand because 99933 is higher than. 44499
Who’s does win here. ( 3 4 9 3 9 ) (4 4) or (9 8)
man i had royal flush of diamond in online poker game, and i bet all in , and i lost 30k to another guy with two pairs of six and four :/
If you’re playing any sort of poker, the dealer has a straight flush. You have a straight. The dealer wins.
Actually, the thing that makes the flush guy win is having the cards in sequence (89TJQ) & having all cards of the same suit (diamonds, in this case). This is a straight flush, which always beats 4 of a kind.
No. split pot
The 6 matched the river card so petrus has a 2 pair while the opponent only has one from the flop. The Petrus would win right?
five cards make a hand, so the 9 is the next high. you would both chop, both win &split the pot.
After a royal flush
Is a A2345 of the same sute, straight flush the next best hand?
If I have 9,6 in my hand and the pot is K,A,A,K,6…. Andy opponent had 9,4 … who wins??
Player two wins with two pairs 1010 A A, this is the better hand. Player two has two pairs K K1010.
K pair because it is a higher pair value
since the dealer has a straight with all diamonds they have a straight flush… in this case they win the hand… If they didn’t have all diamonds your straight would be higher…
Who wins in: 7 4 4 J or 7 8 K K?
who is winning the pot. On the board is 10 10 A 2 3 player 1 as K K 6,8, player 2 as A 7,8 J. wich hand is better.
Michelle, unless you have all of the same suit too, then you beat the dealer hand but if not then the dealer hand beat your hand.
Reed, the answer is yes, the next highest second card in the player’s hand determine the final winner unless it is match up again, only then can the pot be split.
Luis, yes, 4 of a kind beat a flush hand. But since the ‘Flush Guy’ has matching suit, it is consider a ‘straight flush’ hand which it does beat the 4 of a kind hand.
Heather, yes it does count as two pair.
if the board says A Q 5 5 6 and you have a 6 and 3 in your hand, does it count as two pair.
Does a A-A-7-9-Q or a 8-8-6-6-10 beat a 3-3-3-4-5?
does a 4 of a kind (7-7-7-7-J) beats a Flush
(8-9-10-J-Q) The Flush Guy Has All Diamonds Does That Makes Any Difference?
Texas holdem. Board has a pair of j with a k high. Three players catch a k to make two pairs. Is the pot split 3 ways or does the player with the next highest hole card win,.
Michelle: You need to tell me what game you are playing. I assume Texas Hold-Em unless otherwise specified. You can’t possibly have these cards if you’re playing Hold-Em.
Ok if dealer has 6 7,8,9,10 all diamonds and I got 7s,8,h9h,10c,Js who wins ?
James: You have J J 9 9 5. Someone else has J J 9 9 Q. You both have the same two pair, so you look at the kicker. The Queen wins it.
The river has JJ993 i have 55 and some1 else has Q2. who wins?
Caitlin: 6 6 6 J J is a full house. 9 9 A Q 5 is one pair. Full house beats a pair. (See the hand ranking at the top of this page.)
Does JJ666 beat 599QA

DOES AA664 BEAT 888610
Chris: That is a common way to describe 10 10 10 7 7, a full house.
What does 10’s over 7’s mean?
GENE: This site seems to block any post with a URL in it. Even one that references its own domain. I’m not retyping my answer. Sorry.
GENE: Not clear what you mean by “full show”. If there is one card up, you are at the “Bring” and the lowest show card bets. Lowest suit is Club if everyone has Aces. If “full show” means “Fifth Street”, then best showing HAND bets. Worst to best suits are: clubs, diamonds, hearts, spades.

Grate good information
Jo: What was your straight?
Sooo ive been playing this poker app and multiple times have lost to either a pair or two pairs when i had a straight… Umm….? Watsup
Shay: First hand is 9 8 7 6 5, a 9-high straight. Second hand is A 9 8 7 6, Ace-high. The second hand is what is known as “high-card”. It’s at the very bottom of the list at the top of this page. It is not even a “made hand” (one-pair or better). The straight stomps it into the ground.
Does 5heart 6dimonds 7clover 8hearts 9 Dimond beat a hand of 6heart 7 Dimond 8 clover 9 clover A ace….which hand wins
Patti: Apparently this site does not allow messages with URLs in them. Search for the WiKi article that shows how to calculate the odds of any hand. Then plug in your “wild” card into the formula and see how it works out.
ramona: Top of this page. Straight flush is way above a flush. Both are 5 cards of the same suit. Plus the straight version is 5 cards of consecutive rank and same suit. Not four cards, not 3 cards.
If you play with a wild card and have 5 of a kind, does that beat a royal straight flush??
does a straight flush beat a regular flush
Apparently this site does not allow messages with URLs in them. Search for the WiKi article that shows how to calculate the odds of any hand. Then plug in your “wild” card into the formula and see how it works out.
Does a royal flush beat 5 of a kind (obviously wild cards are involved.)?
A pair v pair of same number wouldn’t mean
A split pot… The other cards would come into play..the player with the best kicker would win
Tanner: The highest pair determines the winner in a full house if the trips are the same. So, yes, you are right, The highest pair wins.
Dan: If the King matches the flush then yes – and that would probably be the nuts. If the King does not match the flush, then it’s no help at all.
If two players have a full house with the three of a kind on the board, do you go by whoever has the highest pair in hand or just split the pot?
There is a flush on the table with ace high. If a player is holding a king does this come into play as far as the best five cards?
brenda: Usually this action is covered by house rules. There is no absolute rule for this in Texas-Holdem. Whatever the custom is where you are playing is the rule.
Generally, if a player checks out of turn, he will be held to that when his turn actually comes. If he bets out of turn, he must bet that amount when his turn actually comes. But if that amount is raised to him, he must call or fold.
If you have a player that regularly does this, it’s good to make your own house rule before play starts.
when a person bets out of turn, and when another person goes ahead and bets. are both disqualified from that round?
Adam: If one hole card makes your best hand with what is on the board, then you play it. If both hole cards make you the best hand with what is on the board, then you play them both. If neither hole card improves your hand with what is on the board then you don’t play either one.
The ONLY idea behind hole cards is that you are the only one who knows what they are. THAT’S IT. There are no other rules about using them. They are not “worth” more or less than cards on the board. There are no special rules that say how you use them to make a hand just because they come from the hole. You play them if they help you make the biggest hand possible to you. Period.
At the end of the hand, there are 5 cards on the board and two in your hole. That’s a total of seven cards. Shuffle them all around so you don’t know where they “came from” any more. Pick five of them to make the best five card hand that you can. That’s all there is to it.
Anyone who starts talking about how or when you can use your hole cards is trying to steal your money.
emad: Your hand is J J 10 10 A. Opponent: A A 8 8 J. Both hands are 2-pair. The Aces beat the Jacks. Opponent wins.
When does a hole card ‘play’?
Howard: Why not?
Which hand wins this?
On the table: J clubs 10 spades 8 spades A spades 8 clubs
My hand: J diamond 10 hearts
Opponent hand: A hearts 5 hearts
Can I use a wild card in spades as part of a four card in hearts flush
Anthony: If the flop goes all the way to the River, that’s 5 cards on the board. You have 2 cards in the pocket. You then have 7 cards from which to make your best 5-card hand. It NEVER matters where the cards come from. You can play all 5 from the board, 4 from the board and 1 from your pocket, or 3 from the board and 2 from the pocket. All cards are worth their face value no matter where they came from. That’s Texas Holdem rules.
In your first example you have A A 6 6 7. In your second example you have A A 7 7 Q. Both hands are 2-pair.
if you have A,7 and dealer flops A , 6 , 6 do you still have a 2 pair ? I thought you had to have it in your hand , for example A , 7 flops out A ,7,Q that would be a 2 pair
kamar: Full house always beats a pair (and 2-pair). Card value does not matter. 2 2 2 3 3 beats A A k Q J. It’s the entire basis of Poker: Make a big hand 1st, then worry about big cards.
HAND A is 10 10 10 6 6
HAND B is 6 6 6 K K
Both hands are a full house. This is when you start looking at card values.
HAND A wins because the three 10s are bigger than the three 6s. (IF the trips were the same, THEN the biggest pair would win)
Can a pair of 10 beat a K full house..
on board: 6 K 10 6 6
HAND A:10 10
HAND B:K A
Rita: Maybe you meant to determine the wining hands. I’m guessing at the grouping:
Winner: 2 2 2 10 6 A A 8 8 K 3-of-a-kind beats 2-pair
Winner: 10 10 J 7 4 A 9 6 5 4 A K J 9 3 1-pair beats high-card
Winner: 8 8 7 7 4 K J 6 3 2 2-pair beats high-card
Winner: Q Q 10 9 5 5 5 J 9 7 1-pair of Q beats 1-pair of 5
None of the suits you call out make any difference at all
Rita: Bigger hands or higher value cards.
What beats 222 6 10. , A,A,8,8,K

rlmolinaro67: Both hands are tied until the 10 beats he 4. First hand wins. (Nice to see hands ordered like that)
which hand wins-
8 8 K 10 9
8 8 K 4 3
Oh, because it would be a royal flush if it were a 10. Never mind.. 🙂
Hi – in your high card hand example, why do you have a 9 instead of a 10?
KTS: As far as I can tell from your description, the board is a flush of: A K Q 4 3. A 2 that matches the flush (same suit) will not help. It’s lower than a 3 so how could it? It does NOT count more because it was in his pocket cards.
If someone has a 5 that matches the flush, then he has a flush of A K Q 5 4 and wins because his 5 is higher than 4.
In ANY hand, it NEVER matters if the cards you use come from the board or the pocket cards. Cards are ranked at their face value ALWAYS. The ONLY exception is you can play an ACE as a “one” for a A 2 3 4 5 straight.
texas holdem
Flush on the board.
One player has same suite in the (2 card) hand.
Can he replace his card from one of the five on the board ( say the 4th one ) to claim the win
When he replaces his card, they still share the same top 3 cards ( say ace, king, queen ) but his card is a 5 and the other 2 cards on the board are 3 & 4. Does the player with the 5 win hand ? Or do they split the pot ?

what is the ranking of a poker hand if wild cards are used
Thanks, same as I know.funny things happening ti me in 888poker, and it easnt only this.I will contact them
svilen: It NEVER matters where the cards in your hand come from. All hands obey this rule. No exceptions. K K K can never beat A A A.
All cards are ranked at their face value. No more, no less.
Ps:I mean 3 of a kind,not 3pairs
My 3Aces Versus 3Kings
Js I read on your comments that ot doesn’t matter how you make your pairs, or straight etc.. feom your hands or from the table, which how I know.I start playing 888poker recently and many unbeliavable things have happend, where I should have win,but I sont know why I disnt.now I read here that only foe a 3pair it matters how is aquired.how can a 3K beats my 3A
George: It makes no difference where the cards come from. You can play all from the board, 4 from the board plus one from your hand, or 3 from the board and two from your hand. All cards are valued at their face value. Each player can only play cards “…using the best 5 cards out of the 7 available to them”. Sounds like a tie.
My question…if you have the seven cards(5 in the flop and your 2 hole cards) in Texas Hold’ em on the table, and two people have the identical hand, except the highest card for one hand is using a 7 from his hole cards, and the other person is using a 7 from the flop cards, who wins the hand? Or would this be a tie based on both players using the best 5 cards out of the 7 available to them?
may: nine
I have a question
What if I have a Ingrid on a lfd inn do I win
Steven: The straight flush beats any other hand.
Is a straight flush unbeatable?
mari: No
So does 4aces win over straight flush
Elena: Don’t know why you are specifying “before” and “after” the flop – it makes no difference. Hand 1 is two pair, hand 2 is one pair. Hand 1 wins.
That’s the problem a lot of times with pocket Aces. It may be the highest starting hand, but it’s only one pair.
Question.. Hand 1: before the flop. Has KJ. After the flop HAnd 1 has KK JJ
Hand 2: before the flop Has AA. After the flop HAnd 2 has AA
Question… The winner is?????
Dado: Must have been a flush. If not, A 8 7 4 2 is not even a made hand and someone pulled a fast one on you.
I had a straight 4-8 and I lost to lo cards which were 8 7 4 2 A why was that?
some of the examples only apply to holdem. they are not all valid for omaha
Pete: A high card does not beat a pair of 9s. However, if I understand your description, the board is A A Q Q 9. No one can possibly have a pair of 9s. Whoever has the best kicker wins. It really helps if you specify all the cards involved.
Say there’s two Q’s and two A’s and a 9 on the river does a high card beat a pair of nines
Je: Four of a kind beats three of a kind. Face values do not enter into the scoring in this case.
Dealer has 5 5 5 5 3 – player- AAA6 Q – who won?
keith: Makes no difference if the cards you play come from your hand, the flop, turn, or river. The value of any card is always its face value (except for Ace played as a “1”). Both players have the same straight so it’s a split pot. (The player with the J in hand could be playing the J on the board – makes no difference)
Both players have a straight. To the Jack but one player has a Jack in his hand while the other player is using a Jack off the board. Who wins or is it a split pot
Roshawn: You have J J 8 8 K. Other player has K K 3 3 A. Both hands are two-pair. The Kings make the highest two-pair, and wins it for the other player.
Bill: Everyone plays 3 4 5 6 7. It’s a split pot. (Assuming no flush)
The board has 3,4,5,6,7 a straight. Player1 has A,5 , player 2 has K,7 and player 3 has 4,4. Who wins?
If I have a J and 8 in my hand and on the board there is a j,8, two 3s and a k. The other player has an A K in his hand. Who wins?
Roshawn: The Queens are way ahead. You need a 6, but there are no more than 2 left in the deck.
Say I had pocket 6s in my had and there is a queen and two 5s on the flop. If a person has a queen in his hand, is he winning the hand so far?
Jason: Player 1 has Q Q J J 10; Player 2 has Q Q J J 8; Player 3 has Q Q J J A. The Ace kicker wins (no flushes assumed).
Question for anyone that can help with this game of Texas Hold’em.
The board has Q Q J J 8
and 3 players playing
Player 1 : 8 10
Player 2 : 8 7
Player 3 : A 9
Who winsjQuery17209790670587681234_1427177956594 Someone please help
ggg: You appear to be scoring by rank only.
K K Q Q 7 beats K K Q 7 6 because two-pair beats one pair, no matter the face values.
Q Q A K 8 looses to K K Q 7 6. Both hands are one pair. The K K makes that the higher pair and wins. (The single A looses to K K – pair beats high-card)
Always see who has the best hand (pair, trips, full house, etc.) first. Then for tied hands, break tie with face values.
Is a q,k,q,k,7 beat a k,k,q,7,6
a,k,q,q,8 beat k,k,q,7,6
Pedro: No way.
Can I beat a royal flush with my four of a kind?
Stodemare: 1st hand is A K Q J 10. 2nd hand is A K Q J 10. Two straights! If no one has the flush version, it’s a split pot.
10 Q against 10 6 on table is A K Q J 4 Who wins ?
this is the most basic guide ever, old as shit too.. if you think your going to read this then head to the floor and make some money — you got shit fucked up.
Will: The best hand is on the board: 10 10 4 4 4 is a full house. Too bad those 9s are not Jacks or better. Split pot.
wilma: I failed to mention that the kicker will also help improve your hand. I’m getting the sense that you think you have 3 pair. No. You can only play five cards.
What if someone has pocket 99 and person had AK suited and board is 4,10, 10, 4, 4 who wins the hand?
wilma: It depends. If your two pair is higher than either of the two pair on the board, you win with the best two pair. Otherwise, it’s a split pot. Of course, that’s if no one else has better than two pair.
If there are two pair on the board and no one else has a pair but I have a pair of deuces don’t I win?
oneal: I think I see what you are trying to say. You think that if a 2 comes from the “community cards” it is worth more than a K in a players hand? This is a new one on me. I’ve heard of people saying that cards held in your had are worth more than “community cards”, but never this claim.
The fact is, It NEVER matters if the card if a card is in someone’s hand, the flop, the turn, or the river. All cards are valued at their face value. And you can use any combination of cards from the board and your hand to make your best five card hand in Texas-Hole-Em. I challenge you to post a link to official rules that say otherwise.
josh: You have Q J 10 9 6. This is not even a made hand. You have Q-high. A straight is five cards of consecutive rank. Not four, not three, FIVE Three of a kind wins.
Angel: When you specify wildcards, specify all of your new rules before the game starts.
Does a full house lose to four of kind when jacks and 2s are wild and one has five of kind queens
I have – red 9 – black 10- black J – black Q – red 6– will this hand beat a three of a kind
oneal: You have Q 2 and another player has K K? Is that right? What were the cards on the board?
I had,( q card) with,( 2 card), but ,texas hold’ em live, stated that another player with ,(double kings cards ),would be awarded the win, by the app, then approved by texas hold em live when I complained.the staff referred me to the rules.but, the rules back me up.a double kings cards hand with no matching kings cards community cards, be worth more then my pair of twos, with my two matching a two in the community cards.
Art: The rule in poker is that “the cards speak”. This means that even if someone miss-declares their hand, the actual cards determine the hand that is played. Of course, someone has to see the mistake.and call attention to it..
What if a person layer declares his hand incorrectly. Like saying they have 3 of a kind when they actually have a full house. Does the hand or declaration take precedence?
xman: Now I’m thinking you neither of you probably has a straight.. A straight is FIVE consecutively ranked cards. Four consecutively ranked cards is nothing. Three consecutively ranked cards is nothing. I bet your buddy just has a pair and wins the hand. Hmm?
xman: A straight is FIVE consecutively ranked cards. You can only play five cards. So you can’t have a straight AND a pair. That would be SEVEN cards. You can only play FIVE cards. So, in your case, your higher straight wins.
Here is a rule-of-thumb to help your buddy out. Pick your best FIVE cards from those available to you. Then, set the rest of the cards on fire. Then play the cards that are not ashes..
What happens if one person has a lower straight than you but also a pair. Who has the better hand?
Ok js I just got it! Thanks!
I’m sorry the whole thing didn’t get published. Opponent has K and Q
Asad: K what? You have A A K Q 7. If you opponent has K K he has K K K Q 7 and wins (trips beats a pair). If your opponent has a Q, 7, 5, or 3 he wins (two pair beats one pair). If your opponent has any thing else (no flush is assumed), you win.
Edwin: 5 cards of the same suit is a flush. FIVE! Four of the same suit is nothing. Three of the same suit is nothing.
IF a person hold lets say 123 of the same suit
– Here’s my question. The board shows K-Q-3-5-7. I have pocket Aces, and my opponent has K
sdagf: All players in the hand have the same 2 pair (4 cards). Then you look at each players 5th card. The player with the highest 5th card wins. If the highest card is on the board, the pot is split.
Jaco: 4 of a kind beats a full house. Does not matter what the card values are.
Do,s four five beat a full hour 3aces two kings
say after the river the community cards hold a 2 pair. if in this round nobody has anything in their hand bigger than the 2 pair how is the pot split?
what’s high card
Vanchanzo: You have 6 6 3 3 9. Opponent has 7 7 6 6 9. Top pair, 7 7 wins. You play the best 5 cards that you can make. It makes absolutely no difference which cards come from your pocket and which cards come from the board. Your 2 does not play because the 6 6 and 3 3 are better than 2 2, and the 9 is you best kicker.
If the board has 6_6_3_2_9 u have 3_2 and your opponent has pair 7_7 who wins jQuery17209903940644580871_1419587735798

Zach: Biggest pair wins – Aces
my comment was referring to 5 card just too clear that up
one player has AA223 the other has KK663 who wins?
Luke – Split Pot!
Luke: No one can beat the board. A is the best kicker for the 2 pair. Split pot.
There is 2 2 7 7 A on the board
Player 1 has. Q 10
Player 2 has. J 10
Who wins?
Vina: One player has 8 8 5 5 7. Another player has 8 8 5 5 K. The King kicker wins the hand.
adrianna: No.Straights can not wrap-around.
But there is another interesting thing about these questions. Let’s just for a moment pretend that straights CAN wrap-around. Starting with your 2, you next have an A which you are counting as a 1. Then to wrap-around to the “high” end, you would need another A to count as an A (because you can only count a card one time in a hand). Then you would use your K and Q. So you would have to have Q K A A 2 for a wrap-around straight.
But it’s not legal anyway..
Can a straight be j q k a 2
Already two pairs on board 88 55 4 .. And a player has 4 7 and other player has k j who will win the gamejQuery17206619483577087522_1418535321352
roy: No
does a 3 matching suit diamond beat a high king with no matching suits
Ryan: A flush is five cards of the same suit. That means your “with a high card” must be the same suit as your other four cards. Otherwise, you do not have a flush. Your opponent does not have a flush if he actually has a pair.
Again, a flush is FIVE cards of the same suit. Four cards of the same suit is nothing. Three cards of the same suit is nothing.
If I have a flush with a high card but my opponent has a pair with his lower flush who wins
ethan: Full house.
Cms you have a pair and 3 of a kind?
Does royal flush beat five of a kind
Contrary to what the article says, it _is_ possible for two players to have a royal flush in No Limit Hold’em; I’ve even seen it happen (via community cards giving everyone a royal flush).
says the guy who can’t spell “dealt”
Buy the way you can suck a dick how is the English comp on that dumb ass
Look bytch u got a lil too fucking I kno all about English comp punctuation etc… If you knew how to read in abbreviations you’ll know what the fuck I said instead of implying a smart reply stupid
day: Please list the two cards delt to you, the two cards delt to your opponent and the five cards on the board. I can’t tell who has what from your description. It would help if you learn a little bit about english composition, sentence structure, capitalization, punctuation, and spelling.
Sorry didn’t finish my ? About A.J. and 4.4 two J’s popped up on the board plus a 4 now my opp. Had 4.4. I had A.J. but the opp. Won how is that possible
OK so on a hand I played I has A.J. and my opp. Had 4.4. When the cards was dealt a 4 and a J popped up but my opp. Won that round how is that possible
SR: Highest trips wins. If trips are equal for all players, you go to kickers (next highest single card). If those are equal, then split pot.
elaina potts: A flush is 5 cards. You can only play 5 cards. It is impossible to have a flush and a pair. Highest flush wins.
If two players have a flush and a pair each does the highest flush still win?
What happens when two, players have three of a kind?
Amir: All players will be playing the quads. The winner is the player with the highest kicker (5th card). If that card is on the board, all players split the pot. Any players that have the same high card will split the pot. (Your pair does not play.)
in texas hold’em the board shows quads and i had pocket of 9 for example .which hands would be win?
marie: You have A 9 7 4 2. Ace high. Not much.
Do I have anything with 9c 2c 7c 4s Ace of hearts
Carolyn: NO
DOSES A STRAIGHT BEAT A FOUR OF A KIND
Juan: You have 4 4 K 10 9. Your opponent has 5 5 10 9 6. The highest pair wins, 5s over 4s.
If you each had the same pair (i.e. 6 6 and 6 6) then you would look to the next highest card to break the tie. The high pair wins because a pair out-ranks ANY single card.
What if on the table there is 6.10.9.3.4 and i have a 4 and king to play out with a pair but my oponent has two 5’s in his hand to play out and make a one pair hand. I only add my 4 to make my best hand he will add both his 5’s to make his best hand but who wins the pot do I win it if I play my king with my 4 in my best hand and let the king count as the highest ranking card of my hand against his two 5 hand or does this not count in the sense that i cannot play my king? And therefore lose.
Does a hand AA77J beat a hand of JJJ 410
Angie: Hand rankings are at the top of this page. The list is in the order of the strongest hand at the top followed by the next strongest hand, all the way to the bottom of the list. So if you want to know what hand beats what, you find the hand you are interested in in the list, and if it is listed before the hand you are comparing your hand to, then your hand beats that hand. But if the hand you are comparing yours to is listed before your hand, then your hand is a loser.
So looking at the list above we find 2 pair. Then we look for 3 of a kind. We see that 3 of a kind is listed just before 2 pair. In other words, 3 of a kind is higher in the ranking than 2 pair. Therefore we conclude that 2 pair does not beat 3 of a kind, but rather that 3 of a kind beats 2 pair. And that is because 3 of a kind is listed at a higher position in the ranking than 2 pair.
Does 2 pairs beat 3 of a kind?
dodie: An A plays as an A or a 1 in a low straight. Your hand is not a straight.
Dave-in my understanding of hold-em, top five cards determine the pot. Since the 5,6,7,8,9 stand as the top five cards, with no flush, it would be a split pot with anyone still playing, unless someone had the 10 for the higher str8…
Is4,5,6,7,A a straight
“If there are three 3s, an ace, and another card on the table, and I have an ace and someone else has pocket 8s, who wins?”
You win with the Full House Threes full of Aces, the other guy loses with the Full House Threes full of Eights. This article did not make it clear that in the event both players share in the trips of the Full House, that the winner is determined by who holds the higher pair. I noticed the omission when reading.
Great article, but it IS possible for two or more players to share a Royal Flush: when it falls on the board (roughly 1:649,739 hands).

kathy: You have K K A Q 10. They have K K A Q 7. You both have the same pair. Next card, you both have A. Next card, you both have Q. Next card, your 10 beats their 7, so you win.
Norma: If you make up new card values, be sure to specify your new rules before the game starts.
klm: You have A K Q 10 7. Opponent has A K Q 7 6. No one has a made hand, you both are playing high card. Your hands are tied until your 10 beats the opponent’s 7. You are the winner
Question: who wins the pot and why
My hand: K10
opponents hand: k6
Flop: Q27A3
Please reference rule that supports your answer and where it can be found.
If u play w/a wild card, would five of a kind beat a Royal Flush?
If I have a king and a ten and they have a 6 and a king and the 5 cards on the table are a king queen ace 2 and 7 who wins and when do you split the pot if you both have the pair.
vipin: A straight flush is 5 cards of the same suit in consecutive rank. Not 4 cards, not 3 cards, FIVE cards. A flush is 5 cards of the same suit. Not 4 cards, not 3 cards, FIVE cards.
Richard: 1st player has A A 5 5 Q. 2nd player has A A 5 5 Q. Split pot.
If the table has AQ554 and on player has an A7 and the other has A8 who wins the pot?
Is there any importance of three card and four card straight flush and another is three card and four card flush in poker?
Mo: 2 pair beats 1 pair.
Justin: 3 pair is 6 cards. You only play best 5 cards in 7card. So 4 of a kind beats 2 pair. Unless you’ve made up new rules.
Three pair vs. four of a kind in seven card who wins
A straight flush would still beat your four aces, mate.
four aces is the best hand, no one can beat it cause you cant get a royal flush without an ace
A A K Q 10 vs A A 7 7 9 who wins?
scott: This can happen if a “side pot” is being played. You’ll have to look up the details yourself, it can get pretty hairy.
The more common situation is when a player with fewer chips goes all-in. If there is continued betting between players with more chips, the pot grows beyond what the short-stacked player can cover. If the short-stack wins, he can only receive chips equal to his all-in bet from the remaining players. The extra chips are returned to the other players.
Why, on an all-in bet, does the all-in winner only get part of the pot, while the rest of the pot goes back to other losing bettors?
torrie: q j 9 6 4 beats j 10 7 4 3. Both players just have a “high-card” hand. Comparing each players cards in order by rank, we see that the q beats the j. That’s all you have to compare. Queen-high beats Jack-high. (Suits make no difference)
DENIS: Are you saying each player has a pair and a high-card in their hand? That’s 3 cards. I can’t tell what game you’re playing. It’s not Hold-em.
If you mean each player can make a lower pair with the 5th card on the board — well, you can’t do t
hat. That would be 3-pair (which is 6 cards). So then it comes down to the remaining card. Whichever player has the highest card in the hole wins. If those cards are the same, it’s a split pot.
It would be a lot easier to score if you just listed the board and hole cards and I didn’t have to g
uess what’s going on from your wierd description.
if there are 2 high pairs in the 5 card flop and the 2 remaing players have a small pair and a high card who wins
Okay whats a better hand, 4 spade, 6 diamond, 9 heart, j diamond and q clover or 3 diamond, 4 heart, 7 heart, 10 clover, j heart. Which one is higher
vernon: Sorry, I overlooked the obvious: Also if you have 10 or higher, a 2, or a 5 you beat the board.
john: Think I miss-read your post. You have an Ace high flush? A full-house beats your flush. Don’t be mad.
rick: The straight flushes A K Q J 10 and K Q J 10 9 (any suit) beat your flush.
rayna: Straight flush beats four-of-a-kind.
john: Your 4 Aces beat a full house. (There is no such thing as an ACE flush.)
leslie: No such thing as 3 pair, that’s 6 cards. 2 pair of A would be four-of-a-kind. 4 Aces beat two pair. (A pair is 2 cards. 2 pair is 2 cards 2 cards.)
auro: Player A has A A Q 8 6. Player B has 5 5 Q J 8. Pair of A beats pair of 5.
dulgunn: 6 5 4 3 2. (The Ace is being played as a 1. It is the lowest card.)
kev: j 10 9 8 7 is a straight flush, which beats the flush. (Suit does not matter)
rich: You order your cards by rank. You both have an Ace. Then you each look at your next highest card. As soon as one player has a higher card, he/she is the winner. If all cards are identical, it’s a split pot.
sylvia: a k q j 9 beats a k q j 8 because the 9 his higher than 8. (Provided no one, by himself, has a flush.)
vonvon: Any trips higher than 2s, straight, flush, full-house, four-of-a-kind, or straight-flush.

Is it a farce to refer to a straight AKQJ10 (different suits) as a “Royal Straight”? Will a flush 6432A beat a “Royal Straight”?
I can’t tell if people here are trolling or not
The board 10 10 2 2 2 with KK
If A`s are high and i have 4 of them does it beat 9,10,J,Q,K of heart which i believe is a royal flush

lisa hulan A HIGH CARD BEATS EVERY THING A FULL HOUSE BEATS 4 OF A KIND, 3 OF A KIND,2 PAIR,1 PAIR
it is alwin spades is the highest. a royal flush in spades is the highest .
Does a royal flush in spades rank higher than any royal flush in any other suit
Alwin,
This question is on almost every page on this site. Why this question persists, I can’t figure out. Suits do not compare to other suits. There is no ranking of suits. At all. NEVER. The only time you consider a suit is when making a flush. Then you must have 5 cards of the same suit… ANY suit. The suit makes no difference.
“In poker all suits are ranked equally.” ? Isn’t Spades supposed to be the biggest hand? (Ace of Spade, King of Spade, Queen of Spade and Jack of Spade)
jake
Redjan:
This can happen if a “short stacked” player is all-in and betting continues between other players. The “short stack” can only win the percentage of that hand that he/she has bet. If there is a tie, the split to the “short stack” would be that percentage.
Wilding:
Flushes are scored on the 1st highest card found in each hand, ordered from highest to lowest.
You need to identify all cards in this hand to get an answer

I need to know how the hands goes on what beats what
Why is the pot sometimes divided (unequally)?
If you are playing with wildcards, is five of a kind better than a royal flush?
If Two person have a flush and the ace is the board, does it matter which cards the persons have? Or it’s going to be an A high fluss and it’s going to be an split pot? Let say that I have a six and seven and the other has a two and ten. Who wins? Thanks.
does a three tens beat a full house, six’s full of fours?

Do a pair of queens and a pair of tens beat three 5s?
What does five of a kind beat?
Karm: your ? doesn’t make sense
Teresa C: no, the ace is either high or low. It does not “loop” around ex: Q, K, A, 2, 3
Cameron: KKK99 is the higher full house
Jeff: there is no difference in suit in poker. So if players had the same hand, suit does not play (assuming there’s no flush)
What about if you have 10,J,Q,K,6 the four letters in the same suit except for number 6
and the dealers hand has 2,3,4,5,6 all in the same suit
Which one beats which?
For a straight can the Ace be circular? (used as high, but a 2 before it?)
Examples below:
2, Ace, King, Queen Jack
or
3, 2, Ace, King, Queen
@Victor
Read it again. Four of a kind ON THE BOARD. Reading comprehension ftw.
on the description of the four of a kind … it is impossible for two players to have the same four of a kind hand with a standard deck of cards … if your definitions are intended to represent a multiple deck shoe then you left out five of a kind and where it would place … and a multiple deck shoe also provides for the possibility of duplicate royal flushes … i have never heard of any casino that deals poker from a multiple deck shoe … only games like blackjack and three card poker … but the real issue is that any standard card game that is to be played with a standard deck of cards becomes immediately invalid if played with multiple decks …

I’m reading these questions, and all I can say is that I’m face palming as hard as I can at most of these questions.
how do you play
Sandra that’s not possible because that’s 6 cards in poker you only play 5 cards
What about if someone has 3 pairs??? We played last night and my sister said 3 pair beat a straight???
According to this website, “In poker all suits are ranked equally”, so does that mean that in an event of an extremely rare case of 5 card, where there is two royal flushes, it is considered a tie?
When you refer to the kicker, is it just the highest single card or does a pair on beat a high card?
The “kicker” for Four of kind is in reference to Hold ’em, where all players share 5 community cards. So, theoretically, there could be four Aces on the board. When that is the case, the player who holds the highest card below the Ace is the winner, if it’s higher than the fifth card on the board.
Hi: I’m not clear on why you might need a ‘kicker’ with four of a kind? Wouldn’t the winner be determined by the rank of the four of a kind (e.g. Aces beats Kings)?
