Poker Dome theater officially opens

The Poker Dome theater, and what is planned to be the permanent home of the Poker Dome Challenge, was officially unveiled Friday at the Neonopolis Mall in Las Vegas.

Fox Sports Net (FSN) has already begun filming and airing episodes from the Poker Dome Challenge at the tournaments temporary home in the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas for the past nine weeks while waiting for construction on the dome to be finished at the Neonopolis Mall.

The dome will see participants competing at a table encased in one-way, mirrored glass with microphones everywhere. Fans seated around the dome will be able to watch the poker games unfold without being seen or heard while the players' reactions and images are displayed on a massive video wall.

Special cameras have been installed to capture the hole cards. Cards will also be fitted with computer chips so the audience will know which cards are mucked.

Rhowena Colclough, wife of U.K. poker pro David Colclough, won the inaugural Poker Dome Challenge event.
