Player plans to give WSOP money to charity
David Einhorn made an incredible showing at the World Series of Poker Main Event this year, and it turns out his luck means good luck for charity too as he plans to donate his winnings to The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
David Einhorn was third in the chip count when play ended Monday and had a good chance of making the final table. He told media then that he was playing for charity and anything he wins would be going to the foundation to help with Parkinson's research.
Einhorn is a hedge fund manager whose grandfather had Parkinson's disease. He's also on the board of the charity.
According to Einhorn, Michael J. Fox said if Einhorn made the final table, he'd fly out to Las Vegas. Unfortunately, Fox won't be making that flight. Einhorn busted out today in 18th place.
The charity won't be receiving the $12 million top prize, but Einhorn will still have more than $650,000 in winnings he can donate to the charity.
