paddypowerpoker.com is giving its players a chance to earn a seat in the 2008 Irish Poker Open. Any player who collects 750,000 Paddy Points will get to play in the prestigious poker tournament.

The 2008 Irish Poker Open will be played at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin from March 19-24. paddypowerpoker.com is hoping to send some top-class players to the event.

"We think we have the players on our site capable of winning the Irish Open. In the last two years Pat O'Callaghan and Thomas Finneran have come close, fingers crossed one of our lads will take it down this year," said Paddy Power, communications manager for paddypowerpoker.com.

This year, 708 players, including superstars such as Dan Harrington, Carlos Mortensen and Roland De Wolfe, played in the Irish Poker Open. Paddy Power is expecting an even bigger turnout for 2008.

"In 2007 the queues were out the door and tickets were like gold dust. It's going to be bigger, better and more popular again next year so we are giving our online players the chance to secure their tickets by simply playing on the site," said Paddy Power.

Collecting 750,000 Paddy Points is not the only way to get in to the 2008 Irish Poker Open through paddypowerpoker.com. The site is also hosting daily feeders and biweekly grand final satellites to the tournament.
