Phil Hellmuth's Play Poker Like the Pros is primarily an excellent read for beginners looking for a how-to-get-out-there-and-play manual rather than for a deep conceptual text, such as Sklansky's The Theory of Poker. It is also very useful to the intermediate player wanting to quickly brush up on the basics and get clear advice. Additionally, it's one of the few books on the market with worthwhile Omaha strategy.
For someone who's a poker pro rather than a writer, Phil succeeds in bringing out his advice in a surprisingly informative way, with keen humor and witty language, making the book a pleasure to read.
In short, PokerListings.com highly recommends Play Poker Like the Pros for all beginners, but also for intermediate players looking for an easily accessible reference work that covers Omaha and Seven-Card Stud.
