Play poker for prostate cancer research in Colorado
The University of Colorado Health Sciences Center is asking citizens to take a seat at the poker table in order to help prostate cancer research. It has organized a Texas Hold'em Benefit Poker Tournament today starting at 1 p.m. (MDT) to raise money for the Progress for Prostate Foundation.
The charity tournament will take place at Table Steaks East in Aurora, Colo., and have a minimum $100 donation buy-in.
In addition to a seat in the tournament, that buy-in will also get participants free food, beverages and a chance to win door prizes such as a flat screen TV, autographed pro sports memorabilia and restaurant gift certificates.
"We also have NFL sports celebrities and others who are planning on joining us in this very fun day, where every donation will help make significant progress in advancing treatment for an illness that happens to have a highly survivable and curable outcome if caught early," said Spencer Green, clinical director of research.
Corporate table sponsorships cost $150 to $2,000, with varying levels of event sponsor responsibility.
The event is open to the general public of legal gambling age as space allows. Registration is available online at progress4prostate.org or by calling (303) 798-1338.
