PKR celebrates two years

On Aug. 17 PKR will post up another candle on its birthday cake to celebrate two years of business.

According to a press release from the poker site, PKR has a lot to celebrate as well after two years in the game of online poker. This past year has seen the poker site rack up quite a few achievements in the industry.

In the last 12 months alone, PKR has seen more than 1.1 million players sign up at the site. That takes its total membership up to almost 2 million.

According to PokerScout.com, this makes PKR the fastest-growing online poker room that doesn't accept U.S. players and the second fastest-growing site overall.

"This incredible growth was illustrated in July when PKR.com passed Cryptologic, Ladbrokes and Betfair to become the 15th busiest network worldwide for real-money poker," said PKR in a press release.

The poker site has also achieved a few key milestones in the last year. They include the launch of PKR TV, an hour-long show that reaches a potential audience of more than 15 million across Europe, plus the introduction of the Club PKR loyalty program.

The poker site also branched into publishing with its magazine, Stacked.

"It has been another great year for PKR.com. Our continuing success has meant that we have surpassed our targets even though we set ourselves high standards," said Simon Prodger, marketing director.

"We've demonstrated our ability to compete with the best and, looking to the future as always, our aim is to build on our accomplishments and keep moving forwards."

To celebrate the poker site's achievements, it will host some themed tournaments on Aug. 17. The day will include bounty tournaments and happy hour sessions, and three extra $500 freerolls will be added to the schedule.

PKR will also host an exclusive "Trailblazers' money added" tournament to reward the players who were beta testers who registered before the site launched in 2006.
