Pharrell Williams poker tournament draws red carpet regulars
By Erin Warner
When Pharrell Williams hosts a celebrity poker tournament, you actually recognize the stars' names. Rather than the usual list of washed-up D-listers, the event will feature appearances by Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx, diva extraordinaire Beyonce and the Fresh Prince himself, Will Smith.
The hip hop musician and producer is teaming up with luxury scotch liquor company Dewar 12 for the Celebrity Poker Challenge Friday in Miami.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to the local Boys & Girls Club and From One Hand to Another, Williams' personal charity which benefits low-income communities.
More than 300 guests are expected to turn out for the Texas Hold'em tournament and party, in addition to an A-list roster of the rich and famous. Jay-Z is slated to make an appearance, as are Jermaine Dupri, Anna Kournikova, Lennox Lewis, Queen Latifah, and Troy Smith.
Poker pro Ted "Zekeness" Lawson will emcee and be available to school participants in the finer points of Hold'em.
The evening will also feature a fashion show of Gwen Stefani's clothing line, L.A.M.B, a jewelry exhibition, an automotive showcase and display of newly released handbags. To add a splash of Las Vegas to the cocktail, showgirls and dancers are set to perform throughout the evening.
