Paur, Cantu Lead After Day 1b at EPT San Remo

Another 478 players hit the felt on Day 1b at EPT San Remo today and when the chips were bagged at the end of the day Americans Taylor Paur and Brandon Cantu had seized the lead.

Paur, the 2010 Card Player Online Player of the Year, finished with 188,200 in chips.

Cantu, owner of both a WSOP and WPT championship, sits in second after Day 1b with 180k in chips.

They’ll begin the day tomorrow at the head of the combined field of roughly 500 that will start Day 2.

As expected the field was littered with big names today and several made solid moves towards the top of the leaderboard.

Among the more successful were Vanessa Selbst (164k), Shaun Deeb (130k), Johnny Lodden (113k), Melanie Weisner (108k) and 2010 EPT San Remo champ Liv Boeree (106k).

Also still in and stacked well for Day 2 are 2011 WSOPE Main Event champion Elio Fox (85k), 2011 WSOP Main Event Last Woman Standing Erika Moutinho (85k), 2010 WSOP Main Event champ Jonathan Duhamel (66k) and noted pros Sorel Mizzi (64k), Mclean Karr (57k) and Mike “Timex” McDonald (52k).

Big names hitting the rail today included Patrik Antonius, Matt Stout, Jake Cody, Michael Mizrachi and Shawn Buchanan.

Big stacks joining the leaders on Day 2 from Day 1a include 888 Poker pro Tyler Bonkowski (124k), Kevin MacPhee (99k), Lex Veldhuis (74k) and Jen Harman (71k).

Adding in the 359 runners from yesterday a total of 837 players bought in over the course of the two Day 1s, making for a €3,734,694 prize pool.

One hundred and twenty-eight players will take home a piece of the prize pool with €800,000 reserved for the winner.
