PartyPoker.com series odds aren't looking good for Eddy Scharf
By Erin Warner
The first cards have yet to be mucked and already David "Devilfish" Ulliott is clearing the pack as an early favorite to win PartyPoker.com's Premier League Poker televised tournament.
The series starts filming in Kent, U.K., Feb. 23 and promoters are name-dropping some serious poker players: Tony G, Phil Hellmuth, and Roland De Wolfe among them.
Still, PartyPoker.com's betting site is giving the edge to Ulliott - a World Series of Poker gold bracelet winner and recovering bad boy - as a 11-2 favorite to win the event.
The dis likely won't sit well with Hellmuth, whose odds are pegged at 6-1.
"The early interest has been in the 'Fish' and we had no choice but to make him the early favorite to win," said a PartyPoker.com spokesperson. "One thing is odds-on though, Phil Hellmuth will not take this news well, we just hope he doesn't spit his dummy out."
Premier League Poker features 12 of the world's best players competing for a $500,000 pot.
Other pros' odds are: Juha Helppi, 7-1; Tony G, 8-1; De Wolfe, 8-1; Andy Black, 10-1; Ian Frazer, 10-1; Kenna James, 10-1; Kiril Gerasimov, 15-1; Liz Lieu, 15-1; Vicky Coren, 25-1; and Eddy Scharf, 30-1.
